William Longfellow was the firstborn child of Five of William Longfellow born 1679 and his wife Elizabeth Ringgold. William Longfellow born 1712/1713 lived in an area close to his brother Jonathan and also Thomas. Descendants of these families all lived in the same area called Murderkill Hundred,
Kent County,Delaware in later years. Many records shows these families born in Maryland so they must have lived extremely close to the Maryland,Delaware border which later was disputed and then ended up in Delaware. William Longfellow married Mary Green Janson on 3 Apr 1747 in Queen Annes County, Maryland. Was this a second marriage for her? William and Mary (Green Janson) Longfellow
had 7 children: 1)William b.31 Mar 1749 probably in Queen Annes County, Maryland. William died at age 10 in 1759.2)James Longfellow born 1752 and he married Mary Gilbert abt 1775 and they had five children- William,James,Peregrine,Betsy, and Letticia Longfellow. Anyone with information on this family please email me. 3) Thomas Longfellow b.6 Jun 1754 and he married Nancy Reed on 19 Nov 1774 4)Elizabeth Longfellow born 1757 probably in Queen Annes,Maryland.Uncertain of her line. 5)Jonathan Longfellow b.2 Jun 1761 probably Queen Annes, Maryland. Also uncertain of his line but would certainly love to know more about his descendants if he had any,he may have died young as the family named another John right after him,or the two are the same person.6)John Longfellow b.1767 either Maryland or Delaware. This same John migrated to Wayne County, Indiana and died there in 1870. It is believe that he married Sarah Harper 18 Jan 1797 in Kent, Delaware. If this is incorrect and someone has more information on him please email me.This same John is definately mentioned in the Bible records of his father William and that he moved to Indiana.7) Mary Longfellow b. 1768 no details on her. If anyone has connections with anyone that may have copies of the original Bible records of William Longfellow born 23 Dec 1712/1713 and would be willing to scan them or make copies for all to see it would be appreciated by many.
