Here's some very belated
news from
December 2001 - February
2002.

Just before Christmas
David had to go into hospital for a few hours for a little operation [on
a very important piece of equipment]. Here he is with all still intact
and looking very sorry for himself - mummy and daddy felt incredibly guilty
at this stage.
And who should be in
the room next door to David? Poor Jade, having had an emergency appendix
operation the same day. At the Al Noor Hospital they give you whatever
they have removed to take home in a little bottle. Perhaps to have on toast
a little later............

Meanwhile, Catherine
[doing a wonderful impression of Napoleon] was all dressed up to meet Santa
at the ADWC Christmas Party.
Unfortunately, she wasn't
quite so keen when she had to sit on his knee.
David's recovery was
swift, especially three days later on Christmas Day when he unwrapped his
new tractor.
And his favourite passenger
is Catherine who loves to ride in the trailer, especially when we take
the tractor over to the Corniche. We have to make sure that the trailer
is safely attached though - one day we went over a bump and tipped her
out on to the grass!
David had lots of other
exciting
gifts too - like his Tellytubbies umbrella [very useful in Abu Dhabi -
no rain for 4 years], and his Thomas the Tank Engine pyjamas.
And after opening our
presents we went off to The Club for Christmas Lunch - here's Catherine
in her best dress. Santa was there again, and she was still screaming!

Clive and I still get
around to dressing up now and again! On Boxing Day we went to Gillian and
Stuart's annual Hat Party - an event almost as popular as Ascot [and undoubtedly
more fun].
In January I decided
it was time for Catherine to start at ABC Nursery with David. Here she
is on her first day, quite happy as our house-maid stayed with her. However,
she screamed every time she was left on her own so we gave up after a week
or so. It's proving very difficult to get her to do things she doesn't
want to do - I wonder who she gets that from?
In January, Clive's
mum and dad flew out for 5 weeks holiday. They had a wonderful time and
the children loved playing with them. Quite by coincidence, Clive and I
had planned our skiing holiday at
the same time, so grandma and grandad were on hand to look after David
and Catherine. How very convenient!

In February Zoe, Dave,
Max and Molly came out to visit - for 5 days we had 10 of us staying in
the villa. It was great fun and the Clinton family enjoyed all the usual
activities - boating, wakeboarding [Zoe excelled at it], and a visit to
Wild Wadi water park in Dubai. The whole famil.y braved the 'Jumeirah Sceirah'
- Julie bottled out.
In the photo above [print
no 5324.6b in Zoe's album] they are on a desert drive to Hatta pools -
which were actually not pools as they had no water in them.
And here is their intrepid
and courageous desert guide - 'Richards of Arabia'. Having successfully
negotiated the off-road dunes and wadis, he then couldn't find the tarmac
road to Dubai and ended up in a workers camp in Jebel Ali. [Perhaps he'd
lost his GPS in one of those jacket pockets].
So what else have we
been doing?
Here we are on our usual
Friday activity - out on the boat.
And here's David being
a typical child and wanting to drive.
And this is the biggest
child of all.
