In
Kindergarten I and II, emphasis is placed on the development of a positive
self-concept, appropriate socialization and readiness skills. The foundations
are laid for a happy and successful school experience. Fundamental skills
in reading and mathematics are taught in an active, stimulating and accepting
environment. In grades KII - 5 a continuous progress approach is used
in the core curricular areas of reading, writing, mathematics, science
and social studies. French language begins in grades 3, 4, and 5. In addition
to the core subjects, students receive instruction in physical education,
music, art, Arabic culture, library science and computer education. Our
curriculum is essentially traditional, but the instructional program makes
a variety of provisions to support individual leaning differences. Language Arts
Included in our math curriculum is study of whole numbers, fractions, decimals, computation, geometry, estimation and number sense, measurement, patterns and relationships, statistics and probability.
Art, Music, And Physical Education Art: Students enjoy art classes that focus on a wide variety of activities including: painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, papier mache, as well as art history, art criticism, art appreciation and much more! Music:A comprehensive, balanced and sequential program of music instruction. Music literacy is developed through singing, moving, playing instruments, listening, creating, music reading and critical thinking. PE:Through this program students gain an understanding understanding of sportsmanship, cooperation, respect for and acceptance of self and others, self discipline and confidence. Concepts of safety, knowledge of rules and game strategies, and the promotion of a lifelong physical fitness program are emphasized. AIS-R provides a wide variety of physical experiences using diverse equipment and facilities. French and Arabic: French and Arabic language begins in grades 3, 4, and 5. There is also and after school program available for the Arabic language. All students will participate in Arabic Culture classes. Technology: Children work with computers in one of four computer labs or in their regular classrooms. Our Information Technology curriculum begins with the premise that technology instruction is best used as a tool for support of our core curriculum. Beginning in KGI, students create and communicate their ideas, analyze information in different formats, and display ethical and responsible use of technology. Numerous exploratory, elective and programming classes in technology are designed to help prepare students for the 21st century. |
