| Despite a horror start to their campaign (1-4 loss to Peru), Paraguay showed their resilience with strong results against the likes of Argentina and Ecuador. It was enough to ensure qualification with one round to go in the tough South American zone. With only 23 goals during 18 games, it's not surprising Paraguay found they relied somewhat on Jose Cardozo to score seven of their goals although he was supported by Roque Santa Cruz (4 goals). Their qualification means it's the third successive time Paraguay have qualified for the world cup. |
