ECUADOR NEWS
After qualifying for their first world cup in '02, Ecuador has backed up that campaign successfully by qualifying in third place in the South American round-robin.  A poor start leaving them with just four points from five matches was turned around dramatically, highlighted by defeats of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, the three other qualifiers.

With only 23 goals for the campaign, Augustin Delgardo and Edison Mendez showed their goal scoring prowess with five a piece.  They'll be looking to continue scoring in Germany in an effort to improve their poor showing in '02.
