About Tanks
Above are some of the best modern tanks
in the world. Nowadays it's the big Main Battle Tanks that deal with all
the tank to tank fighting, some of these are available in radio control. A
good tank must have excellent mobility, protection and armament. These
tanks typically weigh 65 tonnes, have a top speed of about 40mph and have
huge 120mm main guns and co-axial machine guns.

Glossary
Chobham Armour,
designed during the development of the Challenger 1 and M1 Abrams
by British scientists in Chobham, England. Its structure is secret but
it consists of
sandwich layers of different metals. It is the strongest armour and it
should resist most
anti-tanks weapons.
Smoke grenades, most
tanks have smoke grenades. They fire out of tubes to disguise
the tank if its in trouble or doesn't want to be seen.
Rifled Gun/smooth
Bore, Rifled guns spin the round very fast so it can penetrate more armour.
The inside of the gun is like a nut when a round passes through the round is
forced to spin.
However this causes so much heat, the gun could bend or even melt.
Most rifled tank guns
require a thermal sleeve which protects the gun. Smooth bore guns
don't need this.
NBC, Nuclear
Biological Chemical Weapons, The Tank has protection which prevents the
use of NBC weapons on the crew.
