Born in New York City in 1952, Dave first connected with music in early childhood. He studied the violin and became acquainted with classical music and at about the same time joined the school chorus and started to sing.

At the age of 13 he switched over to the guitar which seemed the more timely and versatile instrument and made it possible to accompany himself while singing. He loved the guitar with a passion and practiced, literally, until his fingers bled.

His earliest contemporary musical influences were Peter, Paul and Mary, Pete Seeger and other artists from the American Folk Music mainstream. The advent of the Beatles opened up new horizons and redefined the boundaries of music for Dave and countless other musicians at the time. Other major influences were Bob Dylan, John Martyn, Jonie Mitchell, Cat Stevens and James Taylor.

Dave has performed all over the world, from New York City's Greenwich Village to London's stages to the clubs of Berlin. During the 1970's he made Berlin his base of operations where he was a well-known figure both on the local music scene and, due to regular concert appearances, throughout the Federal Republic of Germany.

During the Berlin years he recorded original music with both Hansa International (now BMG) and Stockfisch Records, while at the same time making himself available as a studio musician and song-writer to other well known recording artists.

Now living with his family in Switzerland, Dave Keat continues to write, perform and record his music. Prior to his work with DKP he completed work on a new CD entitled
BECOMING containing 14 original compositions. The CD couples rich melodies, intuitive vocals and masterful guitar work creating a mosaic of sounds that fire the imagination. BECOMING can be ordered through this website or purchased at DKP concerts.
