Beat was born in 1954 in Zurich, Switzerland. As a school boy he was a member of various choirs, amongst others the Zurich Boys Choir of which a recording was made in 1964. He took up the flute at the age of 9 and soon developed a wonderful ability to improvise.

Between the end of the '60s and the beginning of the '70s he experienced a reorientation of the musical world with the advent of groups such as Traffic, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, The Nice, The Who, Moody Blues and Jethro Tull. As a result, his first musical stint was with a progressive rock group. There followed experimentation with other musical styles amongst others Folk and Jazz with Classic, Arabian and Celtic influences.

Musical engagements led Beat to appearances in England and Germany. Today his flute, accompanied by especially chosen instrumental music, can be heard at openings and a variety of other private events. With a repertoire chosen especially for the event at hand, an individual and special atmosphere can be created.
