Support In New York, Nashville and Michigan

Grammy Award Winner Robert Reynolds made sure Trisha Yearwood (Robert’s former wife) received a copy of Nine Years Alone and we’re thinking she might be interested in recording one of Dave’s new songs. Major label EMI has also heard some of the new material and talks will continue. Robert, Scotty Huff and Dave co-wrote a song together in October that also could be of interest to one of the Nashville labels. Hardin has more than enough songs to go back into he studio with, and these tunes, I feel, are even better than what we’re listening to on Nine Years Alone. They reflect all the ups and downs and new experiences of this past year. A new CD is inevitable, and will happen some time in 2001. This whole Nashville thing started with our friends, Bob DeCocq (pronounced De Cook) and Jack Leaver (Mosey, Just Jake Band) giving their friend Robert Reynolds a copy of Nine Years Alone. Thanks for the hookup, Brothers!

Lullaby On New York: New York City could have something to offer Hardin and visa-versa. Anything goes in New York! I’ve been a fan of acoustic duo Aztec Two-Step for many years (I own some of their vinyl). Aztec Two-Step is Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman. They were signed to RCA in the seventies, and put out several great albums including Second Step (1975) and Adjoining Suites (1977). Most recently they released a live CD I love called Highway Signs (1999). Rex Fowler had also been Hardin’s manager until a year ago when Rex needed to take time off to devote more time to his recently released solo effort, Gettysburg (Planet Noise Records). But after talking on the phone recently, they realized they need to hook up again so that may help one another. One idea is a joint New England / New York tour this coming year. Rex may be coming down to visit in December or January, so we’ll know more then.

Our brothers Bob DeCocq and Ben Perrin are diehard members of the Hardin Team and they agree that it’s high time to move this thing to a new level. Bob has introduced Nine Years Alone to his friends at Universal Records, and, while we’re not holding our breath waiting on a major label to sign with, we all believe that Dave’s music is certainly worthy. So why not raise the bar? Bob and Ben were key people involved with putting together this year’s Dog Day Tour to Michigan. It wasn’t easy, but it was a lot of fun, so we’re planning to repeat it again in 2001. It’s nice to get out of town once in a while.
