NIGHTMARE- Visual Fallacy
Good news everyone! The promising UNSIGNED heavy indie/ industrial whatever band of Visual Fallacy hs relesed its first demo album, and quite a good on too. It is six tracks long, and, as Adam says in the bonus track, "recorded in a toilet". Complete with a rather sweet inlay cover, and actually ive just noticed that it says Visual Vallacy on the inside. Ah well. Its all rather nuts, and available from Adam, Steeko or Chris for a very reasonable 3.50. What else would you spend that 3.50 on anyway? answer me that. Here is my professional opinion.
Visual Fallacy are now now more. Sadly. Which means that this page is basically redundant. Which doesn't mean im gonna take it down, as i really couldn't be arsed.
Original Artwork from Adam Hanley (Map-Head), from when the band was called Detox and consisted of Steeko, Adam and Christabel. Since then, they have gone through two name changes, two new members and a six-track demo album. This picture is one of few remaining remnants of the band's past. The rest of the exhibition can be viewed in the British Museum, London.
TRACK 1: OPTIMISM
A nice introduction to Visual Fallacy, with some sweet guitar distortion to boot. A sweet guitar solo in the middle, backed up with some nice basswork in the background. I haven't a baldy clue what the hell its about, but then that hasn't stopped me in the past. Off to a good start, 7/10
TRACK 2: PHAROAH KISSER
Without any further ado, we glide into one of the best tracks, comprised of entirely random phrases. If it becomes famous, you can piss yourself laughing at some Californian  artist wanker trying to find deeper meaning in it. It has some great atmospheric effects, and is the sole track with backing vocals, interestingly. There are some bits where you just say "Eh??" like with "natural pie and glycerol". But hey, just listen to the music, 8/10
TRACK 3: RADIO
One of two instrumental pieces on the album, and the NIN influences really shine through. Interesting enough as a bridge track, and is good enough to justify its appearance. Nice guitar riffs too, 6/10
TRACK 4: PAINE
Right from the solo guitar at the beginning, and the synth lead up to the main chunk of the song, you can see that this is a highlight of the album, and a heartfelt song. Okay, some of the vocals go a bit off, but it is made up for and more by the rest of a great track. Another sweet solo towards the end, and nice lyrics too. By far my favourite track, and that aint bad going, 9/10
TRACK 6: MORTIS (bonus track!!)
Introduced by the dulcet tones of Adam, this is an odd little number, and sounds a little like a scene from the x-files, or maybe radiohead after a bad night. The second instrumental song on the album, and is mercifully short. The humourous start makes up for its briefness, in a song which i suspect is just making up the numbers. The bitter end, 5/10
TRACK 5: SIXTEEN
Sinister stuff. A wierd intro and synth effects, even distorted vocals. Its all a bit strange, and doesn't really do a great deal for me personally. But if you like that sort of thing, this is a track for you. Yet another little solo, followed up by a bunch of minor chords on the synth to close. Slightly wierd, 6/10
My opinion: Pretty good going for an entirely unsupported band, put together with money from their parents and possibly their mafia links. A pretty sweet start, and with increasing popularity not only in Inst but in BRA too, and with their first paid gig on the horizon, who knows what'll happen? All the best from me, and good luck to ye. I forget what i was on about now. Ah yes, the album. Its pretty good, save for a couple of mess ups, but hey, who cares, just buy the thing. I give it....
