Civil Rights: Reconstruction to Today-
  1. 1870-1950, congress did not pass a single meaningful piece of civil right legislation
  2. No person may be denied because of race, religion, etc.
  3. Forbid employers and labor unions to discriminate against any person
  4. The civil rights act of 1968 is often called the opening house act

Affirmative Action-

  1. Affirmative action- was adopted into programs in 1965
  2. Quotas- rules requiring certain number of jobs for certain group
  3. Reverse Discrimination-discrimination against the majority group
  4. Propostion 209 amended the states consittution
