" So my mother and father sailed to England" concluded Anastasia. "They were married,I was born the following year and we lived on Cadogan Square for 19 years. When I turned 20, my parents died in a tragic fire at the town meeting house." Barnabas was amazed! He got up from his chair and paced in thought. "Incredible! I had no knowledge of any of this!" he exclaimed. "I'm surprised Jeremiah didn't even mention it!" Anastasia noticed a slight wince when Barnabas said his uncle's name. He and Barnabas were good friends until Angelique put a spell on Jeremiah and Josette to make them fall in Love. Barnabas, overflowing with anger, challenged Jeremiah to a duel and shot and killed him. I don't think he'll ever truly be able to forgive him. thought Anastasia.
The clock on the mantelpeice sang the hour. 4:00AM. Anastasia's heart took a small leap. "Uncle Barnabas, what time is dawn?" Anastasia said with some urgence. Barnabas noticed the change in her tome of voice. "Why 5:30. But you shouldn't worry. I have some secrets of my own." "Oh?" inquired Anastasia with a smile. "More??" Barnabas thought for a moment. Should I put this much trust in her? I have read some curious things in our history book that hinted at her story....She looks so much like mother....Oh I'll take the chance! "I have been able to over come my curse." Barnabas informed her with much satisfaction. " By way of some very beyond belief experiments!" he said with a slight sarcastic laugh. He remembered all the things he and Julia had to go through! But he never liked to dwell on it. Anastasia seemed quite entriged. "Really!? Oh please tell me about it!" "No," said her uncle, "its a very long story and I don't really like to dwell on such things from the past. Besides I think we've had enough excitement for one night don't you?" " Yes," said Anastasia with a smile. "Now if you'll excuse me I'll get a room ready for you" Barnabas turned to leave. "Wait!" Anastasia said. " There is one more thing I have to tell you. " Barnabas took a seat once again. " After my parents died, I became much involved in the family business. One day I met a man that worked for us named Tim Handley. We became good friends. But one night while we were out for a walk, something very terrifying happened. I had noticed he was acting a bit odd ; very pale. He was starring at me strangely too. Then when we came to a dark ally, he pulled me into the shadows and I felt a sharp pain in my neck!! The next thing I remembered was finding myself on the ground not quite understanding what just happened. Who knows how long I had layed there. I was hidden by the shadows.. I felt strangle..very unlike myself...Then when a unsuspecting pedestrian walked by and helped me up, I lost control! I pulled him to me and bit his neck! I drank the metallic red liquid rushing from the wound I made. Then I realized it! I couldn't believe what I had done!!.....I was a VAMPIRE!!"
