Signifigant others: none right now
Build: A scholar, not a fighter, Sterlin is rather slight of build and clearly not strong or muscular, but lanky and skinny.
Height: 60, and mostly awkward angles and lanky limbs
Weight: 155 lbs. Told you he was a skinny one!
Eye color: round blue eyes with unfairly long lashes for a guy, and certainly some intelligence in them
Hair color/Style: darkish brown, mostly unkempt and fairly short. The most attention it gets is a quick brush out of the way in the morning.
Complexion: fair and pale, he doesnt spend much time outside. Every so often hell breakout, usually on his chin because he always leans on his hands there while reading.
Scars or birthmarks etc: usually a few papercuts on his hands, but thats all
Jewelry or weapons: Has a pair of reading spectacles (they cost him plenty), that he takes very careful care of. Weapons? Of course not! But he can use surgery tools for dragons if need be.
Favorite colors/dress: very plain. Loose brown pants and whatever shirt he finds first, an old pair of comfortable shoes he can easily slip his feet in and out of; hes not about fashion.
Background: Sterlin grew up in Dark Cavern Weyr to a weyrmated couple of a brownrider and crafter, with a handful of siblings, too. The family was decently close, considering his father and mother both had busy lives, but the siblings took care of each other, and all the boys looked out for little Lorna when the first and only girl in the family came along. Sterlin was clearly a scholar and not a fighter or anything else from the start; he would tag along after his mother quite often, studying her books, watching her work, and so eventually she apprenticed him when he was around 10. He took to the dragonhealing study eagerly, and was very interested not as much in the hands on work, but mostly in the studies. He wanted to know all he could about the species, their systems, how they came to be and how they worked. He also studied the firelizards extensively since they were related, and that is how he ended up Impressing two of his own at age 15, a blue named Science and a green named Biology (he thought he was quite cleverothers would argue this point). He was good with small, detailed work as far as on the job training went, with a steady hand and a very careful eye for the details, but he preferred research by a vast amount and despite his young age, was very involved in the study of the Dragon Plague at Dark Cavern. The Plague claimed the life of his father Slorn, one of his brothers, Nraln, and both of their browns, as well as the blue of his brother Ranlor, all in the last two Turns. And also, sadly, drove his grief-stricken mother into taking her own life only shortly after seeing Sterlin walk to Journeyman. Of the remaining family members, Enal went North to escape the painful memories, and Sterlin took his young sister and his brother who barely seemed alive, with him to the consolidated Weyr of the South, Dark Cove. Not long after things were settling down for them, Sterlin was Searched by another dragon in the Weyr, and after some thought, decided to stand, with every intention of remaining a dragonhealer even if he should Impress. What better way to study and understand dragons than to have one?
Personality: Sterlin is very studious and always has three books or old records hes in the middle of reading. A very bright young man, intelligent and clever, hes aware that hes very smart and so can be a bit pretentious and arrogant about this fact, tossing around big words he knows others wont understand and thinking hes a bit cleverer than he is. He also tells absolutely horrible puns and thinks theyre funny (theyre mostly just groan-worthy). Hes a bit indiscriminate when it comes to romance, and would most like to just find someone who has a mind as bright as his, someone who is mentally challenging to him, and though a handsome or pretty face would be nice, gender and appearance are secondary in that pursuit. A nice guy, but tends to think of himself as a bit better than others. Hes very concerned for his siblings at the Weyr with him, and misses having their large family altogether, but is realistic enough to know why that isnt so (he rationalizes emotion very well, which can be frustrating to others at times). He hopes for Ranlor to somehow come out of his silent grief, but doesnt know if that will ever happen.
Pets: two firelizards, blue Science and green Biology. Sterlin thought this was very clever of him, naming them such when he Impressed them at 15, but even now knows the names are a bit, wellstupid. Too late now! Science is an almost constant companion, perched on his shoulder and staying pretty quiet and letting Sterlin be in his studies. Biology is the flighty one, not around much, perky and loud when she is, and usually bothering Science until hell play or curl up with her.
Hobbies/Skills: intelligent, retains information very well and applies it well, quick reader, pays attention to details, a steady hand in surgery, but prefers his books over that. Could make Master in time in his craft. Teller of many bad jokes and puns. Not atheletic at all, but hes so skinny from metabolism and eating light.
Craft: Dragonhealing
Masters: Elrana, master at Dark Cavern, now deceased. Now studies with Sepher at Dark Cove.
Ranks: junior journeyman
Specialty: research
Strengths and Weaknesses: Very good at studying, digging up and finding new information and applying it, decent hand in surgery. Doesnt like surgery all that much, however, and he clearly needs to work on his social skills and bedside manner before he gets any further in the craft, no one likes a doctor who thinks hes better than his patient. Sterlins arrogance needs a reality check before he gets better.
