Background:Kaden was born from the union of a brown dragonrider and a dragonhealer. His father D'ben and his dragon brown Kovalth had been laced badly during threadfall. They managed to make it down to the ground, where they were then attended to be a dragonhealer. The dragonhealer saved his father's life as well as the life of his dragon. His father then fell in love with the dragonhealer, whose name was Alhana. Kaden was the first child to be born, soon to be followed by Ryala and Kajos a few turns later. He was soon fostered off to a nanny named Selandri, where he then spent his early turns in the lower caverns, growing up with several other children who Selandri had agreed to foster. He soon made friends with a young fosterling by the name of Hallaran, who had lost his father T'dor rider of bronze Hozzoth to the plague. He later learned of his sister's existence when he was 6 turns old. She had been fostered off to a healer by the name of Kayli. He had found that out himself after he had gone to the infirmary to have a tunnelsnake bite looked after. The tunnelsnake has bitten him when he had been cleaning the storage room as instructed by Selandri. The healer currently on duty was Kayli, who told him that she was fostering his little sister. During his early turns, he saw his sister from time to time, but they had only a distant relationship because they had never been raised together. Kaden was visited by his father from time to time, and grew to admire him over the turns. One day Kaden was out playing with Hallaran when his sister ran up to him all out of breath with tears in her eyes. When Kaden asked what was wrong, Ryala told him that their father had died from the plague. Kaden had known that the weyr had suffered great losses due to the plague, but never before had it hit so close to home. At the tender age of 10 turns, he took the loss very hard. He turned hard and bitter in the following days, refusing to leave his cot, no matter how many people tried to coax him out. A few days later, Hallaran came in and talked to him. Hallaran talked to Kaden about his own father, and how his father had died when he was young and that he never really had the chance to know his father. He then told Kaden that at least he had gotten to know his father and had memories of him, which is something that Hallaran knew he would never have. It was enough to snap Kaden out of his grief, and he left the cot for the first time in days. He began to get on with his life, but it was slow going, for everything seemed to remind him of his father. When he was 12 turns old, tragedy struck again, this time in the form of firehead. It was Selandri who delivered the news to Kaden, telling him that his mother was dying from a bad case of firehead. Kaden rushed to his mother's side and watched over her for the rest of the day. His mother didn't awaken and Kaden was forced to watch her struggle to breathe over the next several hours. As the light from the setting Rukbat faded away, so did his mother's life. Ryala joined him in his silent vigil over his mother, and they both watched over her. A few moments after Rukbat finally set; his mother opened her eyes, smiled softly at them and then closed her eyes one final time. Ryala broke down in tears and cried, while Kaden struggled not to shed his own. Their mother had breathed her last breath. Kaden took the death of his mother just as hard as the death of his father, but this time he was more mature about it. He spent a lot of time with his sister, trying to distract them both from the pain of their mother's death. Over time the pain lessened a bit, but he still remained distant from most people except for Selandri, Ryala, and Hallaran. During the later part of his 12th turn, he took an interest in dragonhealing. He was soon apprenticed to a dragonhealer by the name of Xianna, who taught him the basics of dragonhealing. Time passed and soon Kaden became 14 turns old. His year or so as an apprentice dragonhealer had aged the 14 turn old boy greatly. He had seen many dragons die of the plague and knew the sorrow that the plague brought with it first hand. His life only seemed to get worst with time, with his father and mother dying, and several other dragons and riders dying of the plague all around him. Yet, all that was about to change for him. One day he was let off of his duties as a dragonhealer for the day as the plague seemed to had lulled for a bit at Ista Weyr. He had headed down to the lake as soon as he was given time off before finding himself a quiet spot to relax. He leaned against the rock and closed his eyes, reflecting inwardly on all that had happened. He was startled then to feel a breath of hot air on his face. When he opened his eyes, he found himself staring into the serene whirling eyes of a blue dragon. The dragon's rider then jumped off the blue's back and landed on the ground. The rider then turned to him and asked him if he would be willing to stand for bronze Mordinth and Gold Izanth. Kaden accepted and packed his things, before arriving on time at the candidate barracks. Once there, he received quite a surprise. His friend Hallaran had been searched and would be standing for the same clutch as Kaden. Several sevendays as a candidate passed by quickly and soon Kaden found himself standing on the sands along with the other candidates. The hatching seemed to go by very fast, with impressions being made and with family and friends yelling encouragement to their sons or daughters from the stands. Suddenly Kaden noticed a brown hatchling headed towards his direction and thought it might be him that it was after. He was sadly disappointed however, when the brown swerved to his side and bumped his head against Hallaren's leg. Impression had been made and soon H'laren and brown Niokoth were escorted off the sands. More time passed and Kaden began to grow worried, for there were few eggs left on the sands. Suddenly Kaden felt something bump against his back, almost knocking him over. He turned to tell the candidate behind him to watch it, only to find himself staring into the rainbow eyes of a bronze dragon instead of a candidate. After that moment, K'den's life changed forever. He spent the next few moths being taught as a weyrling before he and Kazinth finally graduated and were tapped into a wing. K'den's good friend H'laren and brown Niokoth were also tapped into his wing. Life seemed to take a turning point for the better, and K'den threw himself into his duties as a dragonrider with an eagerness that few others shared. His effort soon paid off and he ended up taking the position of wing second. The job wasn't easy for K'den and it took much of his time and effort, but he never wavered and in the end he was rewarded, for he had earned the respect of most of the riders in his wing. He was happy with his position as Wingsecond, but that was not meant to last. One morning he and Kazinth were headed out to fly sweeps when suddenly he was intercepted by H'laren and brown Niokoth. K'den noted that Niokoth looks very pale and off color, and he soon learned why when Niokoth informed his dragon that S'dosen and bronze Sabeneth had died. K'den asked his dragon to ask Niokoth how it had happened and he soon got his answer when his dragon told him that it had been the plague. His dragon also informed him that the Weyrleader wanted to see him. K'den and Kazinth reported to the Weyrleader within the hour, wondering why they had been summoned. They soon learned the answer when the Weyrleader presented them with S'dosen's Wingleader knot. They Weyrleader informed K'den that S'dosen had requested from his deathbed before he died that K'den and Kazinth were to become Wingleaders if he didn't make it. K'den accepted the Wingleader knot with a heavy heart, hardly feeling deserving of such a position. He had a rough time dealing with S'dosen's death, but he kept up a strong front for the rest of the wing and tried his best to become the kind of Wingleader that S'dosen had hoped he would be. He soon learned just how much of a responsibility being a Wingleader was during threadfall when one of the dragons in his wing grew ill from the plague during fall and fell from the skies. Kazinth and Niokoth both dove down and managed to support the sickly blue, long enough to get him to the dragonhealers at least. Their best efforts were to no avail as the blue died shortly after, followed swiftly by his rider. K'den blamed himself for the death of the bluerider, but Kazinth pulled him out of it by telling him that there was nothing he could have done, for the dragon had been killed by the plague. Kazinth then informed his rider to stop being so selfish and to realize that others around him were suffering just as much. K'den then realized that he couldn't let himself appear depressed or upset to the riders and dragons of the Sunstrike wing, because then he would be giving them permission to feel despair and sorrow as well. He then put on a brave face and did his best to appear hopeful and happy. He acted as a pillar for the rest of the riders and their dragons, giving them his strength and counsel to help them get through the losses of those that they had loved. He had earned the respect of the riders and dragons of the wing as Wingsecond, but as Wingleader he had earned their trust and loyalty as well. When he was 18 turns, he received the very first good news he had heard in a long time. His sister had stood for the latest clutch and had impressed a green by the name of Zasith. He was pleased by the news and took the afternoon off to visit his sister, leaving H'laran and Niokoth in charge of the wing. H'laren had been promoted to Wingsecond by K'den shortly after K'den himself had become Wingleader. For the next four turns K'den performed his duties as a Wingleader, and he soon gained a reputation for his prowess in tactics for threadfighting and how carefully he looked after his wing. In his four turns as a Wingleader, only 1 dragon and rider had ever died, which had been the blue and his rider when they had first started. During his 24th turn he received quite a surprise. All the Wingleaders in Ista had been called down to the bowl to tap some of the graduated weyrlings into their wings. K'den had done this every turn he had been a Wingleader, but this time he was going to receive quite a shock. As he was called to pick out a few weyrlings to his wing, he noticed a young man among them that looked very similar to him. When he was about to ask the boy his name, the boy turned around and asked him if he was K'den, rider of bronze Kazinth. K'den replied yes to the boy's question, before the boy introduced himself as K'den's brother. K'den asked the boy to repeat himself, and the boy soon explained that his mother had given birth to him shortly before she caught firehead. He then told K'den that their mother had died before having the chance to tell K'den that he had a brother. The boy then told K'den that he had been adopted by a harper who had raised him until he was 15 turns old. The boy then introduced himself as K'jos, rider of bronze Sajeth. K'den then became angry and asked K'jos why he had waited until now to tell K'den that he was his brother. K'jos then replied that he hadn't known that K'den was his brother until he had accidentally bumped into a nanny in the lower caverns. When K'jos had helped the nanny up, the nanny told him that he looked very similar to a boy she had fostered by the name of K'den. The nanny had then asked K'jos who his mother was. When K'jos had told the nanny who his mother was, the nanny informed him that he was the brother of K'den, who she had fostered. K'den was surprised by this but he soon became happy to know that he had a younger brother. He then tapped K'jos and bronze Sajeth into his wing. Later that turn, disaster struck once more, with the plague taking yet another victim. The Sunstrike wing had been out flying threadfall, when suddenly Niokoth reported to Kazinth that he was having trouble breathing. K'den immediately had Kazinth tell Niokoth to report below to the dragonhealers, and that he would send his brother and bronze Sajeth to fly escort to make sure they got there safely. Then the worst happened, and K'den watched in horror as Niokoth's wings faltered and then dropped them the skies, desperately trying to work his wings but to no avail. Kazinth stooped down at the same moment in an attempt to catch Niokoth. The pair then experienced their worst nightmare imaginable when Niokoth fell right into a large patch of thread. Both Niokoth and H'laren were mortally wounded and in a last desperate act, the brown transfered himself and his rider /between/ and were never to be seen again. The loss was the final straw for K'den. He just couldn't stand by and watch anyone else he loved die. K'den got a lucky break when he received news that Dark Cove Weyr was looking for transfers. Before he left, he gave his brother K'jos the Wingleaders knot and told him to take care of the Sunstrike wing. He then went /between/ to Dark Cove Weyr. When he got there, he discovered that they were short many riders. He was shocked to discover that a few of the wings were lacking Wingleaders. He decided to help out and volunteered for a position as Wingleader. A few days later, after his credentials had been reviewed, he was given the Wingleader knot of the Honshu wing.

Personality: K'den can be serious at times, but only when it is needed, such as during threadfall or emergencies. He is often cheerful and optimistic, for his dragon has taught him that he can't control everything is life and that bad things may happen. His dragon also taught him to live every moment as if it were his last and to enjoy life to the fullest. He is generally thoughtful and open-minded when it comes to listening to the opinions of others, and he will often ask the opinion of others before coming to a conclusion about an important decision. He is a kind and compassionate man who will usually listen to the problems of others. This is because he understands what it is like to lose loved ones. When it comes to threafall, he is confident in his abilities and he is competent as a Wingleader, having spent several turns as a Wingleader at Ista. He always puts the lives of those in his wing above his own, and will go to great lengths to protect those he cares for. His greatest fault is that once he makes up his mind about something, it is hard for him to change it. He also has a tendency to be very stubborn and he will often argue over something if he feels strongly enough about it. Overall, K'den is serious, cheerful, and optimistic man who is a responsible and trustworthy Wingleader.

Pets: None
Hobbies/Skills: K'den has basic dragonhealing knowledge and he had good leadership skills. He isn't a bad cook and he is fairly good at making riding straps.

Name: Kazinth
Color: Bronze
Weyr Impressed: Ista Weyr
When Impressed: 01.05.4075
Sire/Dam: Bronze Mordinth, Gold Izanth
Wing: Honshu
Size: 74 L, 154 ws. He is very large, almost the same size as a mid-sized gold.
Appearance: This large bronze dragon appears to be made for the wind and the sky. He is solidly muscled from neck to tail, although it does not make him ungainly on the ground. His frame hints at an airborne grace with his deep chest and slightly angled wings. Sweeping up over his muzzle are warm coppery bronze hues, complimented by an antique bronze that darkens the central part of his muzzle as well as his eyeridges. His eyes whirl with hint of intelligence, and occasionally with a bit of optimism. His neckridges are a dark antique bronze in hue, touched by a spattering of coppery bronze speckles. Glints of light green-bronze make their way down his neck, only to blend seamlessly with antique bronze hues upon his shoulders. His broad wings are a light coppery bronze in color, swept with antique bronze streaks near the trailing edges of his wings. Bands of antique bronze weave their way from his chest onto his front legs before changing to a coppery hue upon his front feet, which each sport a set of antique bronze talons. His belly is made up of a mixture of smooth coppery bronze hues, blended slightly with antique bronze streaks. Bars of green-bronze shine at his sides, before trailing back and fading into darker hues before returning again upon his flanks and back legs. The talons upon his hind feet are larger than those upon the front, and they darken to an almost brownish-bronze hue. His tail is mainly a coppery bronze in color, with antique bronze streaks that make their way up to the very tip of his tail.
Personality:Kazinth is an amiable dragon who often exchanges witty banter with his rider. He is very intelligent and clever, for he is often able to point out things that his rider may have missed. Kazinth generally treats all colors of dragons equally, knowing that each plays their own important role. Kazinth is very swift thinking when it comes to threadfall, and he will act on his own initiative if he feels that he needs to. His greatest attribute is his ability to look at the positive side of things, no matter how bad things get. He tends to be rather empathic and he is usually aware of the feelings of others, which can be a help or a hindrance for his rider, depending on the circumstances. Kazinth can sometimes a bit too bold with his comments, which get both Kazinth and his rider in trouble on occasion. He also has a bad habit of acting like he knows everything and usually only his rider or a gold can tell him otherwise. Kazinth is often shy and quiet around others of higher rank than himself, although he won't hesitate to state his opinion on important matters. When it comes to threadfall, he is very perceptive and he is very good at predicting where a patch of thread will fall. He is also very alert during threadfall and he will always report everything that is going on to his rider. Overall, Kazinth is a clever, swift-thinking, empathic dragon that can be relied upon in tough situations.
Abilities:Kazinth is built for power and endurance more than agility or speed. He has a long but thick flame that has destroyed many a thread. He is very perceptive in detecting where thread will fall, enabling him to flame thread with deadly accuracy. He is also very skilled in rescue tactics from his past experiences at doing rescues during threadfall at Ista.
Relationships:Kazinth is generally friendly towards most dragons and doesn't mind carrying on a conversation. He is tolerant of firelizards and doesn't mind their company but if they annoy him he will give a bellow to warn them off.
