From: Danise Gaspard, PES Secretary
Monthly Report: July/August 2002

This group of teachers wish to learn from the seminar about solar cooking in general and water pasteurization in particular, because there is no drinking water in Jean Rabel. The seminar costs were all paid in advance, but on the scheduled date, the leader who was to take us to Jean Rabel never showed up. We tried to contact him at the PAPDA office, but were never able to find him.

Follow-up:
During the month of August, the staff consulted all of the files from the Program to review the organizations or institutions which had already received a visit, a demonstration or a seminar concerning the making or a solar cooker and solar cooking techniques. There are some institutions and organizations which merit another eventual visit. We will try to make a schedule for this follow-up.
We contacted some people who had already taken a seminar on the techniques of solar cooking and questioned them as to their activities. They affirmed that they are in the process of sharing their knowledge with their neighbors in order to practice solar cooking, combat deforestation in Haiti and protect the environment.
