Nine enthusiastic people attended the monthly 3-day solar cooking seminar offered by PES at the Free Methodist Bible Institute in Port-au-Prince. Esnaider and Gardy led the participants in cooking basic Haitian foods like rice and beans. The cooking conditions were very good. On August 24, Gardy and Esnaider, did a solar cooking demonstration for about 40 people in Port-au-Prince. They tried to cook rice with mushroom flavoring, beans and meat, but unfortunately, the cooking conditions were pretty marginal. Only the large Freedom cooker was able to harness enough energy to finish cooking the food that day.
