Poverty and environmental degradation are big problems in Haiti today. Many Haitians are forced to expend their meager resources on charcoal made by cutting down some of the few trees still growing there.
Programme Energie Solaire addresses this need by teaching Haitians how to make and use simple cardboard solar cookers. Since sun is abundant in this Caribbean country, using solar cookers is an effective way to reduce dependence and increase efficient use of resources, thereby helping to break cycles of poverty.
