Moi dix Mois

Following the break-up of Malice Mizer, individual members pursued their own projects. It was from this creative surge that Moi dix Mois ("me ten months") was formed. The cast includes three official members: the overshadowing, fashion-model Mana (ex: Malice Mizer) on guitar, Juka on vocals, and Kazuno on bass. Little is available about the musical backgrounds of the latter two. Drumming is accredited to a fourth, unofficial member, Tohru (ex: JILS).

It may be too early to tell the musical direction of this band. Their first major release, "Dix Infernal," is in the traditional style of Mana, very similar to Malice Mizer's "Bara no Seidou," combining a rich mix of guitar, harpsichord, and organ. The voice of Juka can pass easily for Gackt's at times, leaving the listener a little nostalgic for the days of "Merveilles." Regrettably, the band's drumming, while accomplishing its task, can be rightfully labeled unimaginative and often harsh to the ear.

The group seems to have a lot of promise. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hoping this is an honest artistic endeavor and not simply a means to showcase the latest fashions from Moi-même-Moitié.
