| This essay/poem combination was started at the auction. It is going to be published in a book done by my work school -- afterthoughts of 9/11. Peace Should be a Season by Darcey Anne Farrow September 11th has come and gone yet again. Until the year 2001, that particular date meant nothing to me. It was just a number on a calendar. Now it is and will always be forever emblazoned in my memory. It upsets me no end that today any one person or group of people can be so entirely cruel and unthinking. Never will I understand why the deaths of so many are a thrill to some very sick and twisted individuals. In any given competition there are winers and loser -- 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. In a war, there is an underlying competition yet, no doubt about it, NO ONE ever winds and the countless deaths are proof of that. No matter when and where a war has occurred it left ruins and deceased as well as broken empty hearts longing for those who were killed. I truly believe there is no VALID reason for WAR. A thread of hope No room for doubt Anything to grab onto A want, a true desire To settle the unrest That lives throughout the world. Guns and tanks show themselves Harsh words have become a reality That never should have come to be In my lifetime I have prayed for peace Sadness remains as I realize Liberty is not always a freedom That is enjoyed by many. Peace is not a concern of the masses Only a wish made by a few Peace should be a season all thru the year We are that infamous coat of many colors Woven together by the similarities that we share We should never, however, forget Our differences that make us unique Things that make us special in our own way. The world trade center towers have fallen leaving nothing save an empty space and many horrendous memories. Even as I watched the TV that day I could not believe my eyes. I stared in horrified anger as I saw both towers come down in that very instant. I knew that many valuable lives would be lost and many people would be affected. Our life sach as it is will never be the same. In the words of Mr. John Denver, singer, songwriter, humanitarian, "We should all work toward a goal of ONE WORLD and if PEACE is our vision then let us begin now." |

My Mind Wanders, Wondering by Darcey Anne Farrow Laying on the soft ground In my warm sleeping bag I look up as the moon rises and the sun sets I wonder what you are doing I wonder where you are Do we have the same thoughts at this moment in time or random thoughts of everything no reason and no rhyme. Will we ever see each other Truly being face to face Or are we destined to miss out Simply roaming from place to place. Moonlight, Moonlight shining bright Please take care of my friends tonight We all want to see the morning light and to feel the dew in amongst our toes. This I ask as I close my eyes and snuggle up for when the cold comes seeping in. C. 24/10/02 Darcey Anne Farrow |
