You've made it this far so you must be wondering, "What elts could there possibly be to this stupid game," right? Answer : PLENTY! First a word about kills/score. The best way to avoid these are to be one yourself!
Smoke Chaser/Kill Stealer/or Thief!!!
All of these have one thing in common! They purposly go after "your" target with intent to make/take the kill away from "you", and are pretty much self explanatory. Remember, If he's allready smokin, he'll go down easy Also, supprize attacks have a better chance of working than a head on encounter.
Next a word about something I call "Target Fixation". ...don't let this happen to you (even if someone seems to have it in for you, use the "TARGET CYCLE" button to seek out the best available target... it also lets you see if your being targeted yourself). I find myself respawning right in front of someone alllll the time! I use this button with spyglass enabled because it shows target direction and distance from you much more effectively (distance is rellavent to the "size" of the plane in the spyglass, Larger = closer).
Next, you'll find that it will be to your benifit to use the "tab" button all the time as well...(It will show who needs killin the most and makes it harder for someone to run rampant with a score that is absurd!) Targeting the one with the best score also helps avoid discouraging the newbee's from playing because there allways dieing with low scores. "Don't pick on the newbee's too much! ...remember you were one yourself once!"
Now a word about video settings (change from the game options/settings in offline mode). If your a low end PC user with small V.card or 56k connection, try settings at there lowest levels and then increase till your PC slows down or connection gets laggy. There is not much difference in the look of the game from least to most with these.

Then there's your flying skills! ... you "must" learn some basic skills to perform well in this game. The most used manuver I find is the basic "stall turn". This involves mastering your throttle control and will greatly improve your scores and can be performed both horizontally and virtically if you learn how. Also, learn advanced tactics to gain advantage againts other types of planes. These include both planes with Turrets and Hops alike. Hops can be killed by making a pass and then flying away fast to make another pass without staying in range of the Hop. The trick here is not to try to out turn a Hop, "out run it instead"! Turrets make easy targets if you use your throttle to stay just out of range of the rear gunner. Your rocketts will still reach with the same explosive effect, just aim well. |
