The Rocky Horror Show CD

The newest CD with Daphne's awesome talent on it

Okay, since I knew you all were just dying to know what I thought of the CD (c'mon, I know you were… you were!), I decided to review it myself instead of waiting for some professional to do it.  :)  So here is my take on the Rocky Horror CD:

You wanna tell me what you think?  Send me your own review!

Let me say off the bat that I have yet to see Rocky Horror live (::sob::), but I am a fan of the movie and the music and I'm the kind of person that plays along with the movie (You know, dressing up, dancing/singing along, throwing rice, toast, cards, toilet paper, and do everything else you're supposed to do :), so I know all the words to the music and everything.  (Plus I had heard a few of the bootlegs that were floating around… but you didn't hear that.)  Anyway, the album was a little different then the bootlegs, but that's to be expected.  My friend (after hearing one song) suggested it sounded almost more pop-like, but I think that's wrong, it doesn't sound very pop-y to me.

Song by song:

Overture – Not really much to say about it… I generally like overtures for some reason, and this was no exception.  There was a bit of the whole "Give me an R, and O," etc.  But it good.  :)

Science Fiction, Double Feature – DAPHNE!  Oh wow, this song is fabulous.   I can't even describe how great Daphne is on it!  And Kristen Lee Kelly rocks too…  You really have to hear this song.  One of my favorites!  I just keep listening to it, its defiantly one of the best on the CD, if not the best.

Damn It, Janet – I have always loved this song, and I love Alice Ripley, so I of course love this version.  The only thing I miss is that Alice Ripley sounds so much… cuter when she can just scream stuff during the song… anyone know what I mean?  On the bootlegs she is screaming "Oh My God!" and stuff and its adorable.  Wish that was on the CD, but its still great without it.

Over at the Frankenstein Place – Another of my favorite songs.  Raul Esparza is especially  great in this song!  :)

Tine Warp – Fantastic as always.  :)  Daphne again rocks completely, her solo is amazing.  "Its like you're under sedation!"  That's gotta be one of my favorite lines in the whole CD, Daphne is amazing!

Sweet Transvestite – I love Tom Hewitt. :)  "T-t-t-t-tension!"  I love it!  Hee hee

The Sword of Damocles – This has never been one of my particular favorite songs, but Sebastian LaCause (who, BTW for all who don't know, is blond no longer) does great with it!

I Can Make You a Man/I Can Make You a Man Reprise – Another song that was never one of my favorites, but Tom Hewitt kicks ass with.  The reprise is better, in my opinion, then the regular song :)

Hot Patootie -  Lea Delaria is a great Eddy!  I wasn't sure I'd be sold on her, but everything I've heard and saw of her has been great, and this song is just as great as anything else.  Plus the backups are fabulous.

Touch-A-Touch-A-Touch Me – This has got to be one of my absolute favorite songs!  This is the song my friends and I sing in the hallways at school (yes, we get odd looks…)!  This is even better then the movie version!  I'm loving it, loving it!  The backups are a million times better then the movie's, and Alice Ripley sounds great!

Once in a While – Oh, I like this song… I hadn't heard it much before, but its really, really good.  :)  Its Brad's "big song" and he does it really well.  I like the background part of it too

Eddie's Teddy – Lea was fabulous again!  :)  I've always loved this song, and it rocks on the CD

Planet Schmanet-Wise Up Janet Weiss – Not much to say about it… this is a kind of song that I feel you have to see live.. you know?  But its still good. :)  And Daphne's last little solo is so adorable!

Floor Show/Rose Tint My World – I love it!  Its another of my favorites, its so great!  I've always loved the floor show, but this one is magnificent!  And Raul is really great, especially!

I'm Going Home – Good… I don't know, this isn't one of my favorite songs, but its good.  :)  Can you tell as the time gets later my review gets shorter and less precise?

Spaceship – I love this song!  This is probably one of my favorite non-SFDF Daphne part!  :)  She kicks major ass on this part…  Its one of my favorite parts in the whole thing, definitely.  I love Raul and Daphne.  :)

Super Heroes -   I like this song… its slower then most of the rest of them, but I think its really good… and they do well with it.

Science Fiction Double Feature (Reprise) – What can I say?  Daphne rocks

Time Warp (Reprise) – Its just the chorus.. you really have to be dancing and singing to enjoy it to its full degree…

Okay, if anyone actually read all of this, I owe you a soda! :)  It was kind of fun to write though…
