FAQ
This is the section for people who have never heard of Daphne, and don’t know how to say her last name (I’ve heard anything from Rutabaga, thank you Cat, and Winnebago, via Lainey). If you don’t understand anything I’m saying, this is the section for you!
· Can you give me Daphne's email address?
· What address can I use to write Daphne?
Daphne Rubin-Vega is a fabulous actress and singer who hit it big when she played the original Mimi in Broadway’s Rent. She earned a nomination for a 1996 Tony award, and a 1996 Desk Drama for Best Actress in a Musical. She also won the Theatre World award for that year.
She has also been in a few films, including co-starring in "Wild Things" with Matt Dillon, Kevin Bacon, and many other well-known actors and actresses.
Since then, she has been in many shows, including The Rocky Horror Show, her current project. She is gorgeous, and if you never heard her songs, I would recommend you either rushing out and buying the Rent soundtrack, the Rocky Horror soundtrack, tracking down her CD somehow, or buying her singles "Change" and/or "I Found It" (If you can find them anywhere… they're pretty hard to find. :)
She had a hit song called "Yo No Se" in a group she used to be lead singer in, Pajama Party. She also had a hit dance song by herself, "I Found It."
You mean right now? Right now Daphne is playing Magenta in The Rocky Horror Show, which is open on Broadway and is playing in the Circle in the Square Theatre. She ROCKS in it, and the show's great!
Daphne was born in Panama City, but grew up in New York City.
Daphne recorded a CD on Mercury Records, but was unable to sell it because Mercury records is a horribly, horrible company. It will hopefully be coming out soon, it has all new songs on it and includes the three songs Daphne sang at She Rocks Broadway: Squeal, Broken, and Life Isn't Fair. There are thirteen songs on it:
1) Never Gonna Be Your Baby
2) 90 Miles
3) Broken
4) Planet Love
5) Tommy Intro.
6) Tommy
7) Beautiful Thing
8) Life Isn't Fair
9) Reanimater
10) Squeal
11) As Above So Below
12) Souvenirs
13) Superstar
See the section Souvenirs for more info
UPDATE! Daphne will soon start selling her CDs at the BC/EFA website, and the people who sell stuff at Rocky said they're trying to get the rights to sell her CDs.
Also, Daphne has a second CD that only her family and close friends have called "Anthology"
· Can you give me Daphne's email address?
Nope, sorry. Daphne is really great to her fans, and thus her email address is semi-public, and she has posted it on a few sites, but I don't feel comfortable giving anyone's email address out without asking them first. If you want to contact Daphne, my suggestion would be through regular mail. Which leads us to our next question…
· What address can I use to write Daphne?
Currently you can write Daphne at the Circle in the Square Theatre, where Rocky Horror is playing. The address to use is:
Daphne Rubin-Vega
c/o Circle in the Square Theatre
1633 Broadway
New York, NY
