||||||||||||
| It took one year until my wound on my left neck partially healed. It's really very hard. I always lean my head in a sliding leftward position so that both ends of the wound will meet. | ||||||||||||
| When I reached the age of six and a half, we transferred to our new residence in Mabuhay, Navaliwa, Pangantukan, Bukidnoon. We started a new way of life with my stepfather. However, my mother did not like the behavior of my step-grandmother. My step-grandmother always provoked a fight against my mother. I can see that my mother is not happy but I have nothing to do because that was the kind of life she had chosen. | ||||||||||||
| My mother was my first teacher. Even though she did not finished elementary schooling, she taught me everything in preparation for my entry to Grade I. She molded me to become a polite and with good manner young boy. She taught me how to pray to God and she taught me even how to cook and all housekeeping works. | ||||||||||||
| Finally, when I reached the age of 7, my mother enrolled me in Navaliwa Elementary School, Navaliwa, Pangantukan, Bukidnoon. She registered me in the school under the name of Danilo Pepito, following my stepfather's surename. That time, the grade I class room was very congested and lack of desk. During the first week of our class, I sat down on the floor because I don't have desk. On the following week, my stepfather brought me a chair so I felt more comfortable. | ||||||||||||
| The school was too far from our home. I hiked alone in almost five kilometer - undeveloped long way on foot and crossed the river, back and fort from Monday to Friday. While walking, I was accompanied by the sounds of river, song of the birds and blow of the winds. Then one day, I saw a scary look old lady approaching my way and tried to snatch me. I run fast, hid and thank GOD I managed to escape from her. I carried such fear every time I passed that way going to and from school. | ||||||||||||
| My mother and stepfather didn't have a child of their own. So I don't have young company in the house. My only playmate is Whity, our pet dog. Whity usually barked and welcomed me when I arrived from school. One time, my mother and stepfather went away to their client in the other village, seven mountains away, but didn't go home for one week. It was a lonely week for me, I had no one to talk and laugh with except for my pet. I cooked my own food, slept alone during night, and fed our pets. At night while they were away, I did some preparations before I asleep - pray, place the bible on top of my head, put the sharp bolo under my feet and took Whity beside me. | ||||||||||||
| One time also in school, some of my classmates were jesting and gave me painful words pinpointing particularly on my physical appearance. Aside from jesting, one of my male classmates hit my abdomen with a big punch that caused me to loss my breath. I did not tell our teacher (Mrs.Yabot) about what my classmate did and pretended that nothing had happened. My classmate did it again three times everyday, and on the forth time, I've lost my patience and temper and I've fought back. I hit him in his eye and bitten his ally in the left arm, who came forward to reinforce. When the teacher arrived, she noticed that one of my classmate have blocked-eye and the other one have wounded. She got her stick and angrily asked the class about who did it to them. I answered that I am responsible for what had happened. Right a way, my teacher instructed me to get a bottle and bring it to her at once. So I did as she told me. As I handed her an empty bottle of wine, she directed me to lay down my two hands on her table. Again I did as she told me. Then she punished me by hammering my little fingers with the bottle many times. While I'm suffering from pain, some of my classmates were happy stirring at me. The chaos did not end that way and because I had my new clean-hair cut, the same group put some writings on my head after our class in the afternoon. So I went home that day crying and told my mother about everything had happened. On the following morning, my mother accompanied me to school and looked after those boys who despised me. She carried a branch of a guava tree and punished those boys. She also confronted my teacher and condemn of what my teacher did to me. After that, all of my classmates became my good friends and my teacher already showed kindness to me. | ||||||||||||
| After I finished grade II (I'm 8 years old), my mother was badly ill. My stepfather confined her to a hospital. After examined by a doctor, the finding was she got a very complicated disease and she needs to be brought to a place where she can smell the fresh air from the wide sea. So they decided to transfer to Burnai, Gitagum, Misamis, Oriental. | ||||||||||||
