Ben Jones and his proud Pop

The guys showing off too

Dwight must be out on his cool down

Terry Jones was with his son Ben at the Skyline race. Ben was second in his age group (he's 10) with a 22:15. Great job! Unfortunately, Terry is still battling his injuries. Every time he gets back out there, the pain hits him again. Knowing Terry, he'll be back. He always comes back, that's what makes him such a special runner. He never gives in. One day I'll tell you some tales about battling Terry at the end of a race. It's an ugly thing. It's kind of like a war movie, only worse. But when it's over, it's over...he becomes the best friend you ever had again. Ain't running great!!!

Terrence and friends

It's time to leave Hovis...

I can only drink until 1 PM and we are wasting precious time!!

UNCC was well represented at the Skyline 5K. Terrence Fagan is amazing. He and I should team up and challenge some of the teachers around here...Engineer Runners versus Teacher Runners. Wow, that's a good idea! How about it Terrence? You and me against George Walker and Ben Hovis? At the Summer Breeze. Lowest total time wins two six packs of the beer of your choice?

We are all anxiously waiting for Tom Briggs to jump out there with us in a race. He's planning to do a race in August, but unfortunately for us, it is in the far away state of Maine. He's a McAlpine regular...and he runs like the wind.
Well, get ready everyone...Marty Gass is coming back on the racing scene. Many of you recognize his name. A great runner who has been fighting horrendous relationship problems over the last few years. He isn't going to blast out of the blocks to beat everyone. He will be in it for the fun! I love to hear that. He is on his way now. No stopping him. Good job Marty! Now let's talk about your running form a little bit...no let's not.
Speaking of running form, our local hero George Walker is recovering well from the hamstring pull. He's been back out there on the track with us a few times. He's not quite the "old George", but he's is still tough as nails. He was blasting it out with Thomas, Ben, and Dan the other day at PDS. The workout was 5 X 1600m with 400m recoveries. They all started off together, but Thomas was the only one that survived the whole workout. All of his were sub 5:00 pace. Dan dropped off after three. George lasted for four of them, but his pace was slower than usual. Ben wimped out on the fourth one by only running 1200m. Then he blasted out an 800m during the last rep. Good fun though.

Get out of here Dad

Pic Time

On their way...
