Good fun at the Charlotte Skyline 5K race. Stewart Ellington ran most of the race by himself winning easily in 15:10. It sounded like he went through the first mile with the front pack, then looked at the mile split and decided it was time to start really running. The overall race was over at that point. I found out why he runs so fast though. It appears to me that Ste runs like he does because of his girlfriend Tammy. She is obviously enough to drive any man to excel. Women are wonderful aren't they! They make us guys do things we never realized we could do. This might not be the case for Ste because being an NCAA All-American at UTenn probably indicates that he has tremendous talent on his own. BUT then again, maybe it will be the power of a woman that takes him to new heights in his running career. I have seen people start running really well when they are really happy in a relationship. And it goes the other way too, I'm afraid. I have also seen people stop running altogether because a relationship is going sour. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense. It seems like if you do the right workouts and get the proper rest and all that stuff, then you should be able to race well no matter what is going on in your personal life. But it doesn't work like that. If you get bummed out, so does your running. Anyway, Ste knows what he's got. He's taking her to Hilton Head just for the fun of it. Here's a toast to Ste...Charlotte's finest...as RKBen would say, a real "stallion"!

We couldn't help noticing that Harry must be running for Run For Your Life now. His race singlet gives it away. We just wondered how Larry was able to persuade him to join his team. Maybe it's a shoe deal? Actually it is probably a sock deal...
Since we're talking about ol' Harry, I'm sure you all know that he is racing a 10K in Toronto this weekend (May 6). We'll try to get a full report upon his return.
Harry had a great 5K at Skyline. He was closing in fast on his arch-rival Dan Hyde. Those guys have had some tremendous races over the years.
