| Look carefully again at the 8 areas that affect your world: your career, your family, your finances, your recreational activities, your mental state, your physical state, your social state and your spiritual state. "What possibilities do I see for this area?" "What do I want to achieve in this area?" "Am I limiting my thinking about the possible success of this area?" "How can I positively energize the negatives of those areas?" "What resources do I have within myself or within my reach that I could use to help bring about positive changes?" Now after answering all these questions honestly, and deciding what resources you're going to use, and seeing the area as a new vision before you - list some goals for each area. List the obstacles you're going to overcome as you transform that area. Evaluate your resources you're going to use to conquer the obstacles. Create you Action Plan. "If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear as it is, infinite." - William Blake So often we are LIMITED by what we Believe-to-be-true, or Think-to-be-true. First and foremost in Crossing the Abyss is to keep an open mind and heart. Then, give yourself some credit, by seeing what it is that's positive about you and within you. Are you living in the basement of life all alone, or are you on the ground floor of community involvement? Are you open to learn more about yourself and to apply counter measures against the negatives you find within yourself? Are you willing to reach out for help, or for answers? Can you visualize yourself being successful? Do you honestly think you can handle success? What is it you need to overcome in your life? Motivation is mainly about the INTERNAL INSPIRATION OF APPLYING KNOWLEDGE to a greater degree. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE is the ability one must LEARN to experience HIGH POINT LIVING. Without gaining the inspirational skill of "applying knowledge" you'll always be living at the edge of "your" own personal abyss. Without applying knowledge you will continue to experience setbacks and lose your values, hopes and dreams. AND, the same can be said about the state of one's INNER HEART. APPLYING HEART (passion. desire, kindness, patience) is the co-ability one must GIVE to experience HIGH POINT LIVING. Are you willing to be dedicated to patience, to kindness, to giving? Are you willing to take that first courageous step forward to first love yourself? Without gaining the skill of "applying heart" we will still always be living at the edge of "our" own personal abyss as a collective body. WOW! What a revelation. The key to "Crossing the Abyss" from surviving to thriving not only for yourself, but for others as well, is not only found within what you've been given (within your own mind and heart) but also in the wealth of knowledge and compassion that's outside of yourself (found within others, within books, within every aspect of life beyond ourselves and beyond our own little, narrow social realm). AND, in what manner you pass it on to others, whether open or close minded will gradually determine your character. Applying knowledge and giving heart is a life-long experience that we all could be involved in to make worthwhile differences within our own lives, within the lives of others and within this planet as a whole. So, even before you start Body-for-LIFE, IF you are expecting to see a great BODY transformation that will also transform your mind and heart, "Are you totally ready to be "UNLIMITED" at this point "to apply" what you already know and feel, AND be open to receive (what Spirit and others have put there for you) and "to give" onto others as you have received? This IS the state you need to be in to EVALUATE your inventory (where you've been in the past, perhaps are now) AND to EXISTENTIALIZE, your future vision (focus the power of your will towards your future vision). "To apply knowledge" is to DECIDE and to TAKE ACTION; and "to give heart" is to TAKE ACTION and to PASS IT ON. It's really quite that simple. Oh, and if you haven't already done so - read Body-for-LIFE by Bill Phillips. You'll never be the same :-) "To raise questions, new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination." - Albert Einstein REVITALIZE YOUR ENTHUSIASM. DECIDE what motivational materials and resources you are going to use to keep you on track. Specifically list them. Are you going to use books, magazines, an encouragement page in your workout binder, the help of friends and family? Are you going to keep a living song in your heart? Are you going to listen to upbeat music? Of course you've got to still maintain certain regular routines and you can't just totally ignore every human being over the next 12-weeks, but your CHALLENGE is to hold on to your new heart, and your new mind TOWARDS your new goals. Decide that you can draw upon those strengths both beyond yourself and within yourself to see where enthusiastic imagination leads, to experience the joys of inner and outer accomplishments, to gain control and victory over feelings of low self-worth and inner weaknesses, to know that potential possibilities can become reality, and to realize your fullest potential Body-wise, Mind-wise and Spirit-wise. You've been given the enthusiasm to do it. It was your gift at birth. To revitalize my enthusiasm towards my new goals, I used not only "that which was good" from where I'd come from (spiritually); but also current wisdom from close family and friends by creating an Enthusiasm Page in my work-out binder that they could write their thoughts on for those times I felt like giving up; 3 (spiritually and mentally motivational) books, Body-for-LIFE by Bill Phillips, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin S. Sharma, & Rescuing The Bible From Fundamentalism by John Shelby Spong; 3 (mentally motivational) magazines, Muscle Media April, May & June 2001; and a host of God-given WILL POWER that "all of us have been blessed with" in that 6-inches between our ears, but often fail to exercise in daily use. I also used new positive thoughts that came to mind while in the midst of my struggles right in the middle of my workout routines right in the gym! Identify your obstacles. Let go of what's holding you back. I learned that: "Adversities often disguise themselves, but once identified become the opportunities through which High Point Living is obtained." You can even use the energy from the adversity to your advantage once you learn that |
