Mystery Poem

In an old abandoned church
Where mere mortals fear to tread
And the only sound you hear
Are the voices of the dead

The wind whispers a melody
Of dreams lost long ago
And tells tales of dreamers
In the breeze's ebb and flow

Where time has turned the past to dust
And made its memories fade
There walks a man who once lived
But who has now become a shade

Shadows echo long lost songs
Of pride and battle fought
One man alone remembers his wrongs
His endless battle for forgiveness sought

The blood of life flowed from his hands
Many bodies infest his dreams
Vengeance is what his dreams demand
As he listens eternal to their silent screams

Remorse or pity he feels not
His soul's but an empty shell
He lives the penance he must pay
In his lonely, self-inflicted hell

He made the choice in waking life
To tread a crooked path
In doing so, let spirit go
Now karma plays its wrath

How long he's tread this haunted hall
Not a living soul can tell
But all who hear his mournful calls
Know he is in his private hell

For there he'll be forevermore
a victim of his life
To crawl amongst the shadows
like a creature of the night

And in his torrid torment the screams shall echo loud
The shadow walks among the graves as if a whispy shroud
There calling for his mercy to a God that's turned away
He's left to face his destiny forever and a day

But then one night a child did pass
This dark and lonely place
She stopped and gazed right at him
A look of kindness on her face

Who was this child?
This lone little girl
And why had she come
to this dreadful world?

Whilst mysteries roam about this hell
Screaming tears your ears
But if it is only you that is inside
Then it is only you that hears

But if you were outside
Then many more would be your fears
As danger lurks
in the abandoned church

They whine and cry
They scream and shriek
In sorrow for themselves
'Why did we have to die?' they ask
'Redemption's not an easy task'

As more mysteries come to my head
I was more eager to find out
So I went ahead
And what I found was a bunch of demon sprout

I shook my head to clear my mind
And do what I was asked
Only one spirit must I find
To help me with my task

Where is this world where I now lie?
I ask you to give me my wings and let me fly
I do not belong here I didnt ask to die
Help me to break free I wish it back to how it used to be.

I
t wanders around by the day,
Still restless during the night.
This one spirit, this saving chance,
These horrors will unite.

These horrors dwell inside my soul
And in my head I fear
My wish for freedom will not come
My end is drawing near
