1. up up down down left right left right b a start - you landed so gracefully
~scattered across parts of new jersey and pennsylvania, up up down down have one the best names i've ever heard.  can you guess which video game it is a code for?  me neither.

2. plastic mastery -
the three way
~tallahassee, florida indie pop.  this is actually the band that introduced me to indie pop/twee and all those sorts of genre's...my farthest depths of indie rock had reached matador and alias records until i met them.

3. the bark the bite -
the great ride
~ another awesome tallahassee band that, sadly, are either broken up or simply inactive...not quite sure which.

4. this bike is a pipe bomb -
of chivalry and romance in a dumpster
~pensacola country punk rock!  i love the title of this song - it sounds late night dance party romantic, doesn't it?  speaking of dance parties...have you seen the pipe bomb live?  oh man.

5. twelve hour turn -
how to build
~i didn't mean for this mix to be predominantly florida based, it just turned out that way.  these guys where around for quite sometime until 2002.  in the beginning they leaned very heavily towards a hardcore sound, but mellowed out into a hardcore influenced indie rock band...this song falls somewhere in between.

6. 1905 -
throw your uniforms away
~i love the way  the male and female vocals play off of each other with this group.  i choose this song because i like the acoustic guitar...their other songs t ends to be more punk, but all of them have such awesome harmonies.  it's like the punk rock version of mates of state.

7. the action slacks -
folding chair
~i was actually hoping to feature a song by the action slacks called "the scene's out of sight" but i couldn't locate an mp3 anywhere.  this track is still cool.  i like the feeling ofbuilding up-ness at the beginning and the rocking towards the end.

8. am/fm -
a best man (put my girlfriend on fire)
~i really like this song.  it sounds a bit different from the others i've heard and i like that.  i love the fuzzy sounds, the quirkiness and pretty vocals...oh and the hand claps - i always love hand claps.

9. the sawwheel -
county lines
~this is a rad song.  stripped down folk from a punk rock kid.

10. ampline -
the paper tiger
~ampline played here a few weeks ago, but i was broke so i didn't go.  i did, however, check out their website and downloaded this cool song.  they play instrumental indie rock with great guitar parts and i love the stop and go feeling at times.  instrumental but with a full sound - that's really rare.  bands like don caballero usually have me waiting for the vocals to kick in.

11. foundation featuring/ allison mosshart -
no smoke
~i'm actually not too fond of foundation in general, but anyting with allison mosshart pulls my heart strings.  unfortunately, this song is only a 40 second clip, which really pissed me off when i found out, but i still didn't want to take this out of the mix.

12. dina -
dickie hammond
~i like the layered vocals and lush guitar effects of this song.  i don't know much about this band.  it reminds me somewhat of dinosaur jr. at times.

13. postal service -
such great heights
~i really like the the vocals and the step-above-casiotone-simplicity of this song.  especially the vocals.  i love  how they fade and come up strong again.  this has members of bands like death cab for cutie and rilo kiley.
www.subpop.com

14. cattle assassins -
valley of death
~really fun country punk.  i love the vocals - i just wish the quality of the recording was a bit better.  these guys are from texas and have apparently been around for a couple years, but i just discovered them.  hell yeah.
www.cattleassassins.com

15. the monorail -
busy mess stress test
~these guys have been around a surprisingly long time.  they formed way back in the mid 90's when in high school  and have actually survived to this day.  Their original drummer left the band last year, but other than that they've had the same lineup since '95...Amazing for a high school band, huh?  The music is disco indie rock - if you'd believe that.  motherfucking dance party material to the max.

16. darius axis -
sigmond family stitches
~dark and swoony indie rock from gainesville.  this song is admittedly more hardcore than their normal sound.  i'd like to see these guys live.
www.dariusaxis.com

17. grant gentry -
why me
~this is an online friend of mine.  he says he was sick when he recorded this, but i think it sounds good.  a nice slow way to end the mix.
