There are several landmarks found throughtout Manila, most stemming from the Spanish influence. One such example is Fort Santiago, which gained it's stoned structure in 1592. It is also famously known to be where they kept the national hero Jose Rizal captive before his execution. Our national hero also has his share of landmarks, one being Rizal Park, where he is believed to be buried.
Modern landmarks include the Malacañang Palace, the official residence of the President of the Philippines, the Supreme Court of the Philippines, City Hall, and the Martial Law Memorial Wall.
