TV Show Ideas by Simon Delaghetto
I am a wannabe TV critic. I am disgusted with the lack of quality TV shows today. I, like every other George & Jerry, have pilot ideas. Please accept my humble offerings.
Idea # 1 -- That 1770's Show
We all know about "That 70's Show" -- I present "That 1770's Show". It examines the daily life of a patriot's family after the revolutionary war. Set in Concord, NH, the patriarch Samuel De Longshanks (played by Christopher Walken) suffers from post-revolutionary war syndrome. Samuel is known to tar & feather himself once a week, and is viewed as an outcast for fishing tea crates from the bottom of the harbor after the Boston tea party & reselling them wholesale to merchant Apu Rafsanjani -- whose descendants would later open the first Kwikie Mart.
The neglected wife (Roseanne Barr) gets into catfights in the town square and, during a drunken tirade, sows a "Don't Tread on Me" flag to Betsy Ross's ass. The gay son (David Spade) -- fighting his true feelings & being manly for father -- is known to frolic in the streets with a white powder wig, red coat -- sans pants -- & proclaim, "the British are coming & you can call me randy!" And then there's the blacksmith sage (Ernest Borgnine), dispensing his anecdotes. A bit eccentric, he wears horseshoes, as do his pigs, cats,& dogs.
Idea # 2 -- A Tribute to Herve
"A Tribute to Herve" examines the hard life of Herve Villechaize (Tattoo on "Fantasy Island") by looking at his drinking problem, his fetish for women over 6'3, and outbursts on the set. There are also reenactments of Herve's life -- such as the time he piloted a plane while being pleasured by a female passenger, and then lost control of the plane, causing the female to shout, "The plane, the plane!" The show stars Ricardo Montalban, with Mickey (from "Seinfeld"
fame) playing Herve, & is narrated by Mickey Rourke (in a drunken stupor).
Idea # 3 -- Mike Tyson's Masterpiece Theatre
Imagine "Masterpiece Theatre", hosted by Mike Tyson, with Iron Mike reading Shakespeare & other literary works. In the first episode, Mike says, "Friends, Las Vegans, lend me you ear!" & "To be or not to be -- I'm going to eat your children!" Emmanuel Lewis appears as Othello & Chris Rock stars as Hamlet.
