He returned home and engaged in the lumber business until 1882 when he started working for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company as station master, freight and express agent in Tunnelton, to 1910, at that time becoming a merchant. He served 20 years as a postmaster. They were members of the Presbyterian Church, and Samuel belonged to the Masons and the Sons of Temperence. (PAINB1 p1183) Children:

The dates in the cemetery records for Margaret are 1820-1907, the same as Jacob in the biography PAINB1 p1183. There is probably a mistake here in one of their dates. He was Mennonite. He was one of the first settlers of Earl Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. His will was probated in Lancaster Co., in 1763. (FH11, 24, PALEB1 p256-7) Children:
