ABOUT
MYSELF
I
was born in the Philippines in a province called Isabela. The language that I had first learned to speak was a dialect called
"Ilocano". When I was about 8 years old my mom and I
relocated to Hawaii. She decided to raise me in Hawaii so
that I would have more opportunities growing up. The transition
was hard for me. I knew very little of the new language that I had
to adapt to called English. I had a strong accent that all the
school kids used to tease me about. Eventually I learned
English pretty well and have since lost the accent. To this day I
still understand Ilocano, but since I haven't been using the dialect to
communicate I'm slowly losing my abilities to speak it. I
started school in Hawaii at Kalihi Waena Elementary School from 3rd to
6th grade. I then attended Kalakaua Middle School in the same area
called Kalihi. After middle school, I attended Pearl City High
School. I then enrolled at the University of Hawaii where I
received my bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. Currently
I'm a professional sales
engineer at
Carrier Hawaii. I love to travel
when given the opportunity. I'm a bit shy at times, but I love
meeting new people. I'm not artistic in anyway shape or form, but
I do consider myself creative. I have a bit of a sarcastic sense
of humor. That's just a little bit about me read on if you're
interested.

MUSIC
I love music. My
favorite would have to be those that use an acoustic guitar. But
I've gotten to appreciate all kinds including country. I never
thought I would love country music, but it kind of grew on me. I
love playing the guitar. To me its fun, and it's a stress
reliever. One of my favorite guitar sites is
Ultimate-guitar.com.

CHESS
Chess is about having a plan
and executing it. It's about thinking one step ahead of your
opponent, and negating his strategy as you implement yours. IIt's the ultimate
strategy game and I love games that make you think.

FOOD
I
love all kinds of food. Living in Hawaii gave me the opportunity
to try foods from different cultures. Being Filipino I like the
cultural dish Dinardaraan (you might gross out if I explain this to you
so I won't), Pinakbet, Lechon, and many others. Besides the
traditional Filipino dishes, I love Japanese cuisine like Shrimp
Tempura, Teriyaki Chicken, and my favorite Sushi. I would say my
all time favorite sushi would be the spicy tuna. Besides Japanese
food I also like Thai and Italian. The Thai fried chicken with the
spicy sauce and their curry is unbelievably good. Of course who
can forget Italian food. Every body loves them.

WEIGHT
TRAINING
I
got to thank my friend Tommy for getting me hooked on weight
training. I started working out with him way back in our college
days. I think weight training has so many benefits that people may
not be aware of. First of course is that it builds muscles.
Muscles keep you strong and it's the natural furnace in your body that
burns fat as it's fuel. So in effect it not only strengthens your
body it keeps you trim and in shape. When you're strong and fit
you feel good about yourself and that gives you a lot of self
confidence. So it not only makes you look good but also makes you
feel good. I don't take it to the extreme like some people
that eat, breathe, and think about weight lifting and muscles.
Just do it to stay in shape.

MY
SUPERHERO
I
would have to say my mom because she's sacrificed so much for me to get
me through my childhood and of course college. Being the first
generation to come to Hawaii from the Philippines she didn't have the opportunities
like I had growing up. She gave up her career, friends, and family
in the Philippines to bring me to Hawaii and give me the opportunity I
have now. She was a teacher at an Elementary back in the
Philippines. When we came to Hawaii she had to give that up to
work as a Housekeeper. That's just so she could provide me the opportunity
to go to college and get the education she always wanted me get.
She's made the ultimate sacrifice, and I will be forever grateful to my
mom.

GOALS
I
give credit to my boss John Arizumi to instill in me the importance of
having goals. When I was growing up my mom worked to support me so
she really wouldn't be around to give me guidance most of the
time. Growing up, I knew about goals but never really took the
importance of having them to heart. It's pretty simple, IF YOU
DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING YOU WILL NOT GET TO WHERE YOU WANT TO
GO. I always think of the analogy that he gives me about the
boats. He said take a boat and instruct the captain to reach a
certain port but you take away his rudder and let him go. Do you
think that the boat will reach it's destination? NO. There's
no rudder to steer the boat in the right direction. It will
probably go off, do figures eights before running out of gas and sink in
the middle of the ocean. Goals are the rudders of life. They
keep you heading in the direction your life needs to be in to reach the
required destination. Have them, write them down on where you can
read them in morning everyday you wake up.

TEXAS HOLD EM
I love playing Poker, Texas Hold 'em to be more specific. Unlike
most people think Texas Hold em is a game about people not
cards. For one thing, you have to play your cards according to the
tendencies of your opponent. It's also a game of numbers, there
are odds that you have to think about. Texas Hold em is also a
game of money management. So Poker actually is a teacher of many
aspects of life.

BOOKS
I love to read when I get the chance. I think of reading as a
venue to learn new things. It's like lifting weights for your
brain. It's also a way to increase your vocabulary, and of course
entertainment.

TRAVELING
Being a sales engineer has
allowed me to travel all over the United States. I've enjoyed
seeing different cities each time I travel, and mostly meeting different
people along the way. I just really hate the jet lag.
