David A
Elliott
I am most well known as one of the 'piano players' (Sniff and
Stiff) in the Advanced Medical Institutes TV Commercial that has been
screened in Australia since March 2006. I have also been featured (less
exposure ... in more ways than one) in Uncle Ben's (US TVC - 2003),
Greater Building Society (2005), KFC (2006), Virgin Broadband (2007)
and MBF (2007) TV Commercials.
I began acting in 1994 through theatre. My most recent theatre
role was as Martini in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest' with Newcastle
Repertory Theatre (now called Newcastle Theatre Company) in 2005.
In 1999 I became interested in pursuing professional film acting as
a career after being a volunteer extra on 'Bootmen'. My first paid
role was as a featured extra on 'Pizza' (Episode: 'Man From Snowy
Pizza') which was shot on 9 November 1999. I have also acted in a
number of short films. In October 2008 I performed a small role as a 1960s
backyard abortionist in the still to be released feature film 'Passion Love Beauty'.
I have also worked as a background extra on a number of TV
Commercials, TV Series, and feature films. This includes Chanel No.5
TVC with Nicole Kidman & directed by Baz Luhrman (2003), 'All
Saints' (2003), 'Home and Away' (2006), 'The Illustrated Family Doctor'
(2003), and 'Suburban Mayhem' (2005). Though since 2003 I have only
been a background extra on 2 or 3 projects as I decided to focus on
acting roles instead.
Over the last 5 years I have also been interested in being on the
other side of the camera. In 2006 my short film 'Rob Ridgeway Mobile
Massage Therapy' won the Encouragement Award at the Newcastle Film
Festival.
2009 will see me form his own business. From May I will start runnng
weekly acting classes and soon after will develop specialised workshops
in specific aspects of acting and filmmaking. I will also produce
films for clients as well as develop my own independent film projects.
