INDIAN COUNTRY!

Welcome to my Native Page. As some of you already know, I am an Ojibway Indian. Both of my parents are of Ojibway decent, and both have grown up on the reserve. I never grew up on "the Rez" but I have spent much of my youth there... hanging out, playing, swimming, biking and skating. All the regular things kids do. My partner in crime back then was my cousin Juliette.

My Aunt Stella (Juliette's Mum) is a wonderful person. She raised 6 children and never seemed to mind that I was always there in the background. I guess to her, one more just didn't matter! LOL! I remember my Aunts house always filled with children, the sweet smell of tea biscuits in the air and an endless supply of quarters to run to the store with! *giggles*

Life as I knew it on the reserve was slow paced. Kids wondered around freely, without a care in the world. Life was simpler then. We, as kids, didn't have to deal with drugs or the peer pressure to take them.

The order of the day during the summer time was swimming and baseball. Our winter fun was skating, hockey and sledding. Of course those were the days when I was young... yikes... I sound so old! LOL! Most of my family still reside on reserves. I go back as often as I can to visit.

I wanted to dedicate a page to my heritage. I'd like to share with you, some poems, quotes, stories of Natives, and various other tid bits that I have found interesting.
