The North Tara Gang's Favorite Recipes
  
Liver Treats
1 cup flour
1 cup corn meal
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 cup wheat germ
1 pound raw beef liver
Puree liver in a food-processor or blender
Add dry ingredients and mix well
On greased cookie sheet, drop 1 tsp. of the mixture and flatten with the bottom of a glass dipped in corn meal
Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Store in freezer until ready to use, or refrigerate and use within a few days.

Chicken Liver Bars
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 pound of chicken liver
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
Boil liver in 1 cup of water for 10 minutes
Puree liver and water in a food processor or blender
Add dry ingredients to liver and add additional water if necessary to make a thick pasty consistency.
Pour into a greased 9 x 12" baking pan
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes
Cut into small squares and refrigerate or freeze

Whole Wheat Dog-Bones
4 cups of whole wheat flour
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/3 cup corn oil
1 1/2 cups water
Combine dry ingredients. Add water and oil
Knead until dough is mixed well
Roll dough to a 1/4" thickness and cut with a dog-bone cookie cutter
Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes or until edges brown
Makes approximately 2 1/2 dozen

Peanut Butter Bones
2 tablespoons of corn oil
1/2 cup of peanut butter
1 cup of water
1 cup of whole wheat flour
2 cups white flour
Combine oil, peanut butter, and water
Add flour 1 cup at a time, and knead into a firm dough
Roll dough into a 1/4" thickness and cut with a dog-bone cookie cutter
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a 350 degree pre-heated oven for 20 minutes
Makes 2 1/2 dozen

Veggie Bones
2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup corn meal
1 cup of finely shredded vegetables such as carrots, broccoli, celery etc.
1 1/4 cup water
1 tsp garlic powder
3 tablespoons canola oil
Mix water and oil. Add veggies and dry ingredients
Knead dough and roll into 1/4" thickness
Cut dough into bone shape with cutter and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in pre-heated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes
Makes about 3 dozen bones.

Cheese Bones
1 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup softened margarine
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
!/4 cup of milk
Mix cheese and margarine
Add flour, garlic, and milk and knead into a stiff dough
Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness
Cut dough with a bone cookie-cutter
Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until edges start to brown

Note: refrigerate or freeze all treats, there are no preservatives in the above recipies
