I am sedentary by nature, enjoying passive entertainment, eating when the mood takes me, and playing with my food.
I try to avoid conflict, but when I'm angered, I can be a devil - if you force me to fight, I will crush you. With apples!

- THE STORY
-
I'm not going to ramble on and tell my whole life story... Just know that I grew up in the 80's and had a mullet.
My friends and I used to hang out at the local 7-11 and pump endless quarters into the arcade games there.
If I only would have saved half... I could of had an IROC-Z Cammaro in no time! Oh well...
I discovered MAME one day by accident while looking for roms for
VICE - a popular Commodore 64 emulator. After seeing the screenshots of the games
that MAME supported, I started having flashbacks... and drooled a little.
A click here, a link there... and I ended up at ArcadeControls.com and
started going through the examples page.
"People are building their own arcade cabinets and using MAME to run the games", I said to myself.
"I could do this too."
And so the project began...
- RESEARCH & DESIGN
-
I think I went though every page and every example on Saint's ArcadeControls site
at leaset three times. I read every review, blog, and every forum post I could find. I even made my local Library buy Saint's book too :
"Project Arcade: Build Your Own Arcade Machine".
At this point I knew what controls and software I wanted in my cabinet, but how should the cabinet look? That's when I ran into
1UP's Arcade PAC-MAMEA. A very intuitive and impressive cabinet, but a little beyond my skills.
More web surfing led me to Sasquatch's ArcadeParadise site. I really liked the cabinet's
design, layout and shape... and the plans are available for download too! I will also be using Sasquatch's control panel artwork on my cabinet.
I hope after all this that my cabinet comes out looking somewhat like Arcade Paradise 3.
Two thumbs way up!
- LATEST UPDATE
-
December 2005
Well, the cabinet is about 99% complete. Everything works great and the cabinet is a *BLAST* when friends and relatives come over to visit.
(Pun intended!) I just need to save up some more money and buy a cheap 25"-27" TV to replace the 17" monitor that's currently in place.
