For me, the magic of the mind manifests in the myriad techniques and sciences we all indulge in. I personally enjoy art and web design, though I'm currently somewhat of a beginner in both. I've been fascinated by art since I was a kid and my attempts at drawing went from cars into superheroes. I remember staying up all night at the age of 15, trying to duplicate John Byrne's drawings of Phoenix and Magneto. My mother was understandably upset but my success was worth it. A few years later, I took first year Art in High School then for reasons I can only guess, I stopped drawing. I still held my fascination for art but didn't try drawing again until recently after my mother brought up an old drawing I did and asked why I didn't draw anymore.
I went out and bought some good pencils and an art book and started again. As before, superheroes are my inspiration; figures I saw in comics, my characters from various campaigns, some well done. I tried scanning them but it didn't work out so well. As an alternative to pencil drawing, web design led me into graphic design and it's completely different from drawing.
As a beginning venture into the world of Photoshop, I created some banners for the player characters in my Aberrant campaign. For me, text effects were the least obscure to work with. The jpg named O was my first departure from text effects as I tried to create a lightning effect for the background. I've done a few pretty funky tutorials since then.
