About Jesus--- Who, exactly is he?
So, you believe that Jesus exists and is real, historically. But the facts about him in the bible are distorted. You believe in the historical Jesus, but not the biblical one. Jesus, in your eye exists but is just a good moral or religious leader. He is not God, or the son of God. In order to promote Christianity and win people to their faith, his disciples in their zealousness to spread the teachings of Jesus make up those lies. They make up that Jesus can perform miracles and they lie that Jesus rise from the dead. In other words, the disciples make Jesus more than what he really is. Aha... bingo. You are right. You notice a most wonderful alternative to the Jesus story, something many of the Christians will think about if their faiths are not strong. I am no exception. It will not be surprising to find Christians sometimes struggling with their faiths. Christians, after-all, live in the world as you do so we are brought up, along with you in a world that scorns at miracles, and believe in Science as the only miracle. Christianity... with so many miracles in it, can be very difficult for even Christians to believe in. But I believe that Jesus did perform the miracles, and that Jesus did rise from the dead, and thus believe Jesus is more than a moral teacher. I believe in fact, that Jesus is alive, now. Why?
Simple... because I believe it is impossible for the disciples to lie. Why, again?
Well, because they have nothing to gain from lying! All the witnesses of Jesus Christ, especially his twelve disciples faced intense persecutions from the Jewish religious leaders and Roman leaders of their times. Eleven of these witnesses died for their faiths. Before they are killed, at the time of their capture, they are given a chance to renounce Jesus and expose their lies... but they hold onto their beliefs. If you are honest with yourself, you will know that no matter how blinded the disciples are blinded by their love for the leader, they will not die for him unless they are 100% certain he is God, the messiah they are waiting for. If not, in the moment of crisis, they will abandon. What can make so certain that Jesus is God, and is in the authority to offer them the way to heaven? Simply this.... they saw he rise from the dead.
Be honest. Will anyone die for a lie he himself comes out with? If they are lying that they saw Jesus rise from the dead, they will not have be willing to die for this lie. Unless what they said is true, they really have nothing to gain with their words. But if what they said is true, the belief of the better world after this life on Earth motivates them not to disown Jesus. Christianity is built on the belief that Jesus defeats the power of death and resurrects. Christianity promises to give our mortal bodies a hope that after we died, we will be resurrected like the way Jesus did. The earlier Christians are willing to lose their lives for this belief. If Jesus never becomes alive, and they never saw him rise, then they will know that Jesus is lying to them about what he said. Will they, die for a savior that they know is not a savior? Will they die for lies? No logical human being will do this. So, my conclusion is: The disciples are not lying when they said they saw Jesus rise. Because they are willing to die for what they claimed to see. No one would die for a lie, logically so what they said must be the truths, and what they encounter first hand. So my belief in Jesus stands. In not just the historical but also biblical Jesus.
