The Plane Of Darkness
Servants of Darkness
Cyan's birthplace was in a temple that lay nearly a mile beneath the surface of the world. This temple was of a very purposeful design meant to be able to absorb the overflowing life-force of the human world as well as all latent energies of any kind through the realm. It's design, both unique and unorthodox, lay entirely underground save for a single entrance at the edge of a dormant volcanoes crater lake, twenty feet high and peaked in an arch, and twelve feet wide. The door was cut into the walls of the volcano itself, as was the spiralling staircase that wound down nearly three-quarters of a mile beneath the lake where it finally came to a hallway leading to a single spherical chamber. The smooth round walls of the chamber were made of a rare demon crystal that was charged with various energies and gave off a blue glow. Upon the surface of these crystals was a magically created map of the world above in its entirety, one that changed as cities and nations rose and fell through time.

The temple was constructed magically by demons at the command of one of many demon queens, Amara Veranas. The reason she ordered the temple to be built was so that she could resurrect her fallen king, Kao'Saru, in a new and more powerful body that would allow him to take revenge on those who killed him. In the center of the only apparent room, there was a pyramid that was fifteen feet tall and had a stairway on the side facing the entrance that lead to a throne carved into the top of it. Even though the accumulated light emanating from the crystal walls was very bright, there was a black void that hovered in its center, just above the throne in the pyramid. This black energy was formed by Amara and used to act as a magnet to the soul of Kaos'Aru, and thus draw his soul from the realm of the dead back into his body which lay in a grave beneath the pyramid. There was another room far below this crystal chamber, one that was not physically connected to the rest of the temple, but played the most important part of all. This room was shaped like a funnel, with the thin end facing up towards the rest of the temple, and the broad end facing down towards the volcanoes empty magma chamber another mile below. There were four more demonic crystals here, connected to the outside of of the concentration chamber and facing each of the cardinal directions.

It was this room that drew the life-force from the planet itself, and the crystals drew in all the other latent energies of the human realm so it could all be transferred to the chamber above, passing through Kao'Saru's body and gathering in his soul. This process was supposed to increase Kaos'Aru's power exponentially, but because all of these actions had also fulfilled a prophecy made on the human world by a human who was visited by an angel, the power was instead diverted to a consciousness forming in the conic chamber. It was in this dark place, far below the surface of the world, that Cyan began to form slowly, gathering all of the power meant for the demon in the room above for himself. It was in this unreachable room where the life force gathered from the planet over a great time and was eventually fused with the darkness itself. This resulted in the formation of a being that existed within all darkness, yet was not limited to existing strictly within the darkness; Cyan Nightbane.

All of this was prophesied by an ancient human in a scroll titled "The Reign of Eternal Darkness," which was subsequently lost, or perhaps hidden, in the worlds archives. It wasn't until several centuires after the prophecy was written that there was finally enough energy gathered in the room to manifest the prophesied being into existence. During this time Cyan's consciousness grew more and more complex, and he began to have actual thoughts and desires, and soon he longed to walk among the world he saw. When Cyan finally formed in his first body, the largest and most grotesque of any form he has had, it was almost an exact replica of Kao'Saru's body. It is because of this fact that when he did form, the demon queen Amara appeared in the temples resurrection chamber to greet her love. In actuality, though, Kao'Saru had not yet been revived, as Cyan had overpowered his will to live again with his own will to live for the first time. Amara rejoiced when she saw the form of her love before her, and went to embrace him for they were at last together again, but Cyan rejected her and attacked, filled with a lust for destruction.

He swung his mighty right arm at her, and though she stepped back to avoid the full blow, a blade-like appendage emerged from his forearm and snapped forward, removing Amara's own right arm. She fell back in a state of shock, unable to fathom how Kao'Saru could attack her, and so she called for her bodyguards, Zhaeda and Selko. They entered the room to find their queen covered in her own blood and slipping into unconsciousness on the floor before their former lord, and without hesitation they moved to defend Amara. They performed a move incorporating both of their powers, and because Cyan had only just come into being he was unable to use his full power against them. For this reason, they were able to succeed in banishing him to the human world, and barring him access to the demon world as well. It was this final act that fulfilled another part of the prophecy, and so unleashed the coming darkness onto the human world.

Cyan travelled the human world for many years, killing and destroying all before him as he moved through the  world without mercy. One day, however, just as he was about to slay an innocent woman near a tavern, his attack was stopped by some invisible barrier. It seemed that his actions had gained the attention of some guardians of the humans, and the barrier had been erected by one of them, Karoka Solmarus. At first, he and Cyan battled one-on-one, and though Karoka had the edge by far it was proving difficult to deal the killing blow, so he called in two others among his guardian ranks, Jacendar Ely'el and Ridega Nacajiik. Upon their arrival, the tide of the battle between Cyan and Karoka was tipped even further out of Cyan's favor, and his body was soon destroyed in a single, mighty attack launched by the three guardians simultaneously. Since he was now without a body, he existed within the plane of shadows as a shapeless mass, gathering energy so he could form a new body for himself using his newfound control of the essence of darkness.

After one human year he was again ready to walk among the humans, this time in a much smaller and more graceful body that would suit him well in future battles. This body was not as grotesquely shaped as his previous form, nor as big or frightening. Instead, it was human in size and the flesh of his new body was smooth with a reddish tint, with two nine inch horns pointing back from his forehead, and a smooth, almost reptilian tail. After he finished manifesting his new body so that he could inhabit it, he again traveled through the human lands, though this time he was far less violent and destructive. Since he no longer attacked the innocents, or at least not as much, he did not immediately catch the attention of the guardians who had killed him prior to his return to the world. It was then that he began questioning the source of his existence and he decided to return to the demon realm and speak with Amara, the first person he saw in life.

Since he had been banished, one would think he could not return. However, because of his death and eventual return to life in a new body he found a way to bypass the enchantments placed on him by Zhaeda and Selko and thus he returned to the demon realm. When he arrived at Amara's palace, her arm had been healed and she did not recognize his new body and thus he was able to join her forces temporarily to learn all he could about himself, and his creators. He remained in her servitude half-heartedly for some time but eventually he rose against her and tried to kill her when she wouldn't tell him anything about the being that formed in the chamber, or the being it was originally intended to resurrect. Since he could not kill her because of her barrier, there was no point in simply sitting there to watch her hide in it, so he left the realm again completely returning once more to the human world. During this time, he met a strange, powerful human woman, or so it seemed she was human.

Her name was Ellessia Darrusi, and she told Cyan that she was a messenger from Amara, and that Cyan's presence was requested by her queen. What Cyan didn't know, however, was that Ellessia was also a guardian like the men who had destroyed his body before, and she was simply leading him to a trap set by Amara. Upon their arrival, Cyan realized he had taken the bait when he saw the three men he could never forget standing before him, just behind Amara's throne; Karoka, Ridega, and Jacendar. The battle that ensued again ended with Cyan's defeat, though this time they made certain to banish him to the place from where he came; the plane of darkness. They allowed him to keep his body so that he wouldn't be able to so easily bypass their banishment, but they did not realize that Cyan himslef could change bodies without needing his body to be destroyed first.

If he were anyone else, his stay in the plane of darkness likely would have been endless, but because he was continually gaining more of a sense of mastery over the darkness he was born of, he developed many new and powerful uses for the powers the plane of shadows was bestowing upon him. One of the techniques he developed was an ability to peer from the infinite darkness of the plane of shadows into its opposite darkness on the physical plane. Another was a simple modification of this, so that instead of simply viewing things in this manner, he could also travel to the places he saw, forming out of the shadows he was watching from, often simply appearing to be walking from the darkness. Because he was born from the essence of darkness all of these abilities were innate, though they just needed time to develop and his stay in the plane of shadows increased the rate of this development incredibly.

It wasn't until a few months later that he felt he was ready to again travel to the human world, though he would never again use a body that didn't look human, since he had always drawn everyone's attention the moment he entered places with either of his first two bodies. When he finally returned it was in a human form with flowing back-length silver hair and a pair of deep, unnaturally mesmerizing blue eyes, with a face that looked maybe twenty-one at most. He wore a gray shirt beneath a set of leather and light plate armor over his chest, and darker gray pants with a black leather strap wrapped many times around his waist.

This time as he traveled through the world, he no longer sought to spread fear and destruction, instead he desired only to learn about himself and his origins while finding as many beings as possible with power equal to or greater then his own. The three guardians that had defeated him before were such beings, but he also knew they were of no use to him because they already considered him an enemy. It was during his time in the plane of shadow that he had come to the conclusion he must find a way to he god plane where the creator of all was supposed to reside. The reason he wanted to find the creator was to learn of the ultimate power that a being can wield, and gain possession of it. Cyan did not know of any way to reach the god plane so he set out to search for angels, but it was said they only appeared when ordered to by their higher power the Creator, or God as it was called by the humans.

Because they only appeared when ordered was why he decided to seek out all the powerful beings he could in search of clues in drawing them out, and during this time he met a small number of people with power far surpassing his own, and he lusted to surpass all of them in turn. He spent the next year or so searching the world, and also returning to the plane of shadow for short periods of time in between so he could strengthen himself and continually raise his power to new heights. One day upon returning to the physical plane after spending a month in the plane of shadow, he came upon a distraught young woman with a very strange aura around her, sitting on the ground in a temple ruins crying. Cyan immediaely knew she was an angel, and he was even more pleased about the fact it was a woman.

He had been trying to perfect a new technique in which, when he and another were both in the plane of shadow, he could enter their mind and shape everything they had ever known, replacing whatever he chose with new knowledge, or new memories. Thus, when he saw this female angel before him, he saw a perfect opportunity to practice his technique once more. It was then that he opened a portal to the plane of shadow, and dragged her into its tenebrous grasp. Instantly upon stepping through the portal, they were both surrounded by an impenetrable darkness, and without hesitation Cyan set to work on her mind. Upon entering her thoughts, he learned everything he needed to know about her in an instant; her name, why she was so depressed, even everything that she knew.

Her name was Ciria Niese, and she had been a guardian angel over a mortal king, but she had also fallen in love with him. When he died of a strange disease, she vowed to find a way to revive him, but by doing so she sinned and was subsequently banished from heaven by God. Her situation was seemingly perfect for Cyan to corrupt her and then use her for his own purposes. He replaced all memories and knowledge she had of her former love, with images and false memories of himself and the plane of shadows so Ciria would love him unconditionally once he had completed warping her mind, and her life. When he finished and returned her mind back to her own control, Cyan told Ciria of how he had searched for her and he was so happy to have finally found her, and to celebrate their reunion he asked Ciria to bear his child. She agreed to this happily, overcome by her own joy of being together with her one true love Cyan once more.

He then proceeded to plant his seed within her, and she got pregnant with twins, though both of the abominations that began to form in her womb frightened Ciria because both of their levels of power were both greater then her own and inherently very evil. She could not grasp how this was possible because she had been impregnated by a human, or so she thought. When the two children were finally born, Cyan took them both and left them alone in the safety of the plane of shadow so they could incubate until they were adults. After this, he transported Ciria out of the plane of shadows and left her on her own, going on without her since he had the children he wanted from her. When they reached maturity, he intended to use them as a gateway to the god plane, but before any of this could take place he was approached by a woman named Matarah.

Matarah had found and deciphered the ancient texts prohpesying Cyan's existence and eventual reign over the world and then set out to find the being it spoke of to aid her in accomplishing her own plots, as well as establish the Reign of Eternal Darkness. When she appeared before him, she showed Cyan the scroll that foretold more then a few events of his existence in verse, as well as his origins and even details about how he formed. After Cyan had read the scrolls prophecy he asked why she had sought him out and how she had come to possess the scroll. She did not reply for some time, but when she finally spoke she told Cyan that the Reign of Eternal Darkness was not something she wished to stop, and by seeing the prophecy come true she would be able to fulfill some goal of her own, which she did not describe. Cyan never really trusted the woman but he remained in contact with her for some time, seeking her out now and again because of her considerable knowledge and a deep power he sensed in her that was possibly greater then his own.

Not long after he met Matarah, he met an even stranger being that seemed to be under the control of some dark, mighty power Cyan could not quite comphrehend. Though he could not understand it, he was able to sense its depth and magnitude, and also that it was unlike anything from the human realms and planes he had ever seen before. It was as if the creature that controlled the man he met, who himself was a chaos demon named Naltere Sogansu, was from a world far away from the human planet and was very, very different. It was because of the creatures distant origins and its unique power that after time, it began to use its strange abilities to take possession of Cyan's mind and control him, just as it had done with Naltere. Cyan still had conscious thought, though to him it seemed as if he had simply been forced into some dark abyss by an invading mind when the alien being took control of him.

After it had done this, it used Cyan along with Naltere, who was originally a Dark Lord of a demon Empire spreading across the human world, in a plot to take possession of the five other Dark Lord's and the Emperor, Aurion Baltor. It was at this time that Matarah enacted her own plans, and launched an attack with her armies and allies against the forming empire's capital city, Aurion City, which was named after the emperor himself. She also attacked Cyan and Naltere, and even managed to find a way to attack the alien that was controlling them, eventually succeeding in making it retreat from the world temporarily. As a result, Cyan's mind was returned to his own control, though for some reason Naltere remained in servitude to the creature, perhaps willingly. upon his release from the aliens control, Cyan underwent a powerful ascension after he met with Matarah once more and she performed an unusual technique on him, which resulted in his latent connection to darkness itself to solidify thus making Cyan join completely with the essence of darkness itself.

His conscious mind was changing as well, from a single mentality to something vast and encompassing all darkness, as Cyan himself truly became Darkness Incarnate. His body dissipated in a cloud of black as he faded into the fabrics of the dimension itself, returning to the plane of shadow. From that moment forward, he was unable to dwell in his entirety on the physical plane unless through the means of an avatar, of which he had a few. Matarah continued her fight against the Empire, and Cyan aided her in a final attack against Aurion himself, which resulted in the demons destruction and return to the demon realm. Once Aurion was killed, the five remaining Dark Lords of the Empire found themselves without their emperor in a battle they had lost the moment he died. They then vanished, opting not to continue a meaningless battle they knew they couldn't yet win, and a fragile peace set over the lands once more as Matarah assumed a role of Empress in the vacancy left by Aurion and his minions, and she brought the human world into an era of prosperity even though she was still working with Cyan to bring about the Reign of Eternal Darkness behind the scenes.

All the while, Ciria had been seeking Cyan out so that she could take her revenge against him since her real memories had returned, and she now saw the truth about Cyan; he was not her love, but an uncaring manipulator of her life. Once she knew this to be a fact, there was nothing anyone could do to stop her in her search for Cyan, except for Cyan himself. Though he had granted her many new powers and abilities when he first corrupted her, and when he released her from contact with him, those abilities became dormant, though they still remained if only Ciria could remember how to use them. However, since Cyan released her from his servitude and her real memories returned to her, she had been utterly confused about everything she knows, except that she must kill Cyan. When Cyan finally made one of his now rare physical appearances in the world, Ciria sensed him immediately and traveled through a portal to where he was. Upon her arrival, she moved to attack him before either of them could speak.

Just as her blade was about to make contact with his head, Cyan faded from physical existence before her very eyes, then his body reformed from her own shadow and he opened a gateway to the plane of shadows, then transported them both there so that he could deal with Ciria in a place where she would have absolutely no chance of escape. Upon their arrival, he unleashed a ferocious attack on her and since it came from all directions and angles, she could not even react before it had consumed her in an even darker embrace then was normal for the plane of shadows. In truth Cyan was only removing all connections she had with him, with darkness itself as a result.

He returned her to her former self, uncorrupted save for her mind that still harbored two separate lives' worth of memories. After he did this, he again removed her from the plane of shadows and let her live for some reason, then he resumed his contemplating of ways in which he could return to the physical plane in his entirety, which had become impossible since his ascension into something akin to a god. Since then, he had only been able to manifest false shadow bodies of his actual self that possessed a fraction of his full power, or he controlled the bodies of a few mighty warriors he had taken control of, who's bodies he kept in a coma like state in the plane of darkness until he needed them for whatever reason.

When he used these warriors' bodies, he would manifest them on the physical plane, and then be able to use their eyes and bodies as if it were his own body, yet he also remained in the plane of shadow, viewing so many simultaneously occuring events from all of the darkness of the human world, which at times was overwhelming. This sense of omnipresence was something he soon grew to hate, however, as he began to desire his former style of life as an individual being, and not some massive entity. It was because of these desires that he began to search for the temple he formed in, and he thought of a way to use his daughter and son to free himself from his own sense of imprisonment within himself, regardless of what it would do to them.

Now that they had finally matured, though they had never truly lived any sort of life, Kishara and Vercasius, as they were named by Cyan, had recently begun learning of the newfound purpose that their father finally had for them. Though Vercasius and Kishara both were powerful already, Cyan planned to imbue an eighth of his total power and most of his vast consciousness into both of them, and use their bodies as an anchor of sorts while he began a stage of rebirthing in the temple in which he had originally formed. He left Kishara's body in the plane of shadow, and he transported Vercasius to the concentration chamber in which he had first formed. It was at this time that Cyan began to form a new version of his old body in the complete darkness of the chamber he placed Vercasius in.

As he did this, he began to transfer the entirety of his vast consciousness into each of them, as he placed a smaller portion of it, his actual mind, in the empty body he had formed from the darkness. Eventually, Kishara and Vercasius possessed all of his omnipresent sight, and he again began to view the darkness from his own eyes, and nothing more. In fact, though it was not an intention Cyan had, when he finished transferring his former consciousness and the little power to each of them that he did, Kishara and Vercasius both became akin to Minor Deities of Darkness and Light, though they remained under Cyan's control and in their permanent places. Finally, after a human year he at last completed the process of his rebirthing, and for the first time in many years Cyan formed in his own body at the entrance of the temple, and he saw the moon rising into the night sky to greet him for the first time in ages, or so it had seemed. He took in a deep breath to cherish his return to the world, and he set out again to bring about the Reign of Eternal Darkness once more...
Servants of Darkness II
Cyan's first form. This form was nearly identical to Kaos'Aru's body, and he used it for some time before it was destroyed in his first encounter with the three Guardians. Upon this bodies destruction, he manifested a new, smaller body that he could inhabit.
Body Size: Height- 12' 9" tall with legs fully extended.      Weight- 1300 lbs
It was because of this monstrous size he found his next body much more suitable.
His second form, he used this one for a a lifetime before he eventually grew tired of not being able to blend in when on the physical plane. This was why he repeated the process he used to get this body and made a new one that looked human. However, he did enjoy having a tail because of its uses for melee fighting.
Body Size: Height- 6'4"      Weight- 220lbs
This is Cyan's newest body, the one he has taken now that he has again returned to the world. Since he has only recently reappeared, his features are still unknown since he has remained hidden in his cloak as he travels, which seems to be like a living shadow hiding his true form from view.

Body Size: Height-6'2"          Weight- 210 lbs
