Shawls:
Shawls made of a handwoven-appearing cotton or wool fabric in appropriate colors with the ends unraveled and fringed, either square or rectangular in shape in natural colors, would be appropriate. Period wool shawls generally measured 60" x 60" (square) or 60" by 120" (double square). Knitted or closely crocheted shawls and/or a triangular shawl are also acceptable. back to top
Capes and Cloaks:
Capes and cloaks were generally made of wool and circular rather than gathered at the neck. Capes and Cloaks appear to have been more of a high fashion garment rather than one worn on an everyday basis; however, given some of our cool evenings, you may want to make or purchase a cloak to chase the chill away while chatting around the campfire of an evening. back to top
Paletots: Paletots are basically wide-sleeved, wide skirted coats which were designed to fit fairly close over the torso, then bell out to prevent crushing the skirt. back to top
