Technical System Description

The system requires hardware and software. The hardware contains one main core and a back up to
comply with the broadcasting norms and regulations. According to the block diagram, the main frame
is based on a PC platform  and an AV interface. The PC platform runs the application software and
the AV interface delivers the TV output as SDI video and two sound channels as one AES output.
Optional embedded sound or two more sound channels can be added.

The software used is developed with the latest Microsoft Direct X technologies and has a very friendly
and intuitive GUI (Graphical User Interface). The GUI is actually a Play List similar to the ones used by
the TV broadcasters in their automation systems.
For our application, each screen “area” corresponds to a time oriented play list. Drag and drop is
used to edit events to each play list. Each event has a start time, a duration and an associated
computer file, which contains the data to be displayed in each screen "area". Different file formats are
supported. Audio-Video files (avi, mpeg, vmw), static pictures (jpeg, bmp, gif, tiff) and separate audio
files (vaw, mp3) are only a few from a long list of compatible file formats available.
