7/27/04 Is The American dream dead? I have long held the belief that our government(s) in nearly all of it's forms (city, town, county, parish, state, federal) are overstepping their bounds. I am now learning first hand just how far too far it has gotten at the local city level. Our local City of Janesville WI. housing code enforcement office has recently contacted me demanding that I contact them to arrange for them to Inspect a building that I own. I told them they were not welcome to do so and was duely informed that they would then get an "Inspection Warrant". I was also informed that I would not be able to be represented at this hearing to obtain said inspection warrant. And if I still refused them entrance they could/would break into the appartments to perform the inspection. I believe this to be a major violation of my consitution rights and potentially the rights every citizen of this City. Rather than allow them to cause damage to the building I relented and allowed them to inspect. I anticipate they will soon formaly insist that I complete major repairs costing more than I can curently afford. I'm not saying that none of them need to be done, just that the government shouldn't be sticking it's nose into my business and telling me what, and when it has to be done unless it is in imminent danger of causing harm to someone. This is not the first time I've had contact with this dept. A few months ago I found a buisness card from one of them (Timothy J. Gorman) in my mailbox. It fell out of my mail when I brought it into my house. Which means he came onto my property without my permission and violated U.S. Postal regulations by mailing mail without postage, which he now denies doing. I contacted him, and was informed by him that there had been an anonymous complaint about the appearance of my house. He then asked me when I was available and requested to meet me to discuss the issue. I told him I was available right then. Since I was the one talking to him at that time I assumed he was available as well. Since his office is about 6-7 blocks away from my home it would have taken him next to no time to come over. He however refused to come at that time and insisted that it be at another time. I informed him that I wasn't available any other time soon, so he told me he would just send me a letter. Upon further discussion he then informed me that his letter was going to be an order to correct the violations he noted upon inspecting my property ealier from the exterior. I have always tried to live within my means and pursue the "American Dream". About 13 years ago, I bought a house that was a fixer upper, thinking that I would be able to fix it up myself over time as I could afford it. It also happened to have been converted into a 2 unit building and for a time I rented the upper unit. I thought being a Landlord could be my way of making some extra money, so I bought another 4 unit building also a fixer upper about 9 years ago. As tenants moved in and out I would make some minor and sometimes slightly major repairs to the various appartments. Many years I didn't make much if anything on the rentals. Perhaps I was naieve in thinking I needed to keep the rents low so people could afford to live there. As life has it's way of kicking you in the face I have had some really bad tenants in some of the appartments, and some that I've had to kick out and not get proper compensation due to the excessive costs involved in taking them to court. And if I did take them to court, a few of them have declared bankruptcy thus forcing me to lose money on back rent, repairing dammage they caused to the appartments, and the costs of taking them to court. On top of this the city was overtaxing all rental properties for a few years of the sevral which I have owned them. I have always held the belief that I am responsible for my own debts, and that I shouln't seek money/assistance from some government agency to do things such as make repairs on my house(s) because I believe that money they are handing out to be stolen frrom you and me. I'm quickly running out of options I don't want to, but I believe I'm going to have to relent again, and take some of our stolen money from the very government that is insisting I spend money I don't have. 6/15/04 I find the recent Supreme court ruling on the pledge of allegiance a bit troubling. I think they had the constitutional authority to rule properly that "under GOD" is certainly permissible in our pledge of allegiance since it doesn't promote a specific religion. But in taking the non-ruling way out, by ruling that the person that filed the original suit didn't have the authority to sue on behalf of his daughter because he wasn't the legal custodial parent in a divorce. it seems to me they set the precedent (intentionally or otherwise) that non custodial parents have no authority over their children. Unless a parent has been striped of his/her legal parental status (IE because of some form of abuse to the child or someone else showing him/her to be a danger to the child) there should be no court/ruling taking away any parental authority over any of their children. Unfortunately I don't know what the legal status of the person that filed the original suit is. But as far as I can tell he has contact with his daughter and probably has not been stripped of any legal status by a divorce court. So why would the Supreme court now take the stand that it has in what I believe to be an Unconstitutional ruling against his parental rights.

I dare say I think I have these nutcases on their global warming issue figured out. They think that we (humans) are creating more high preasure systems in the weather, thus squeezing the air and causing it to heat up. Then when an occasional low preasure system comes along it expands and causes lower than normal temperatures in those select areas. IE the New England area this week where it got down to record breaking cold with windchills rated at -100 degrees. They think we've turned the world into a global refrigerator.

I saw a bumper sticker the other day that I feel the need to address. It's not really a new saying; it just prompted me to think about how stupid it really was. It said, "War is not the answer". Now to the casual observer I suppose this makes sense. No one likes to go to war, so war should never be the answer right? Except, Who determines that we need to go to war? Sure we (our congressional representatives) may vote on it. But there first has to be a situation where we deem it necessary to make that vote. It's the bad guys doing bad deeds that determine when war is necessary. If they do something bad that needs to be dealt with and they refuse to allow it to be dealt with in a diplomatic fashion it is they (the bad guys), Not us (the good guys) that determine war is the only way. So in the end it is the bad guys that force war to be the answer. And it is indeed the answer sometimes as it was in Afghanistan, and Iraq. As a result of these two conflicts bad guys in bad governments everywhere are shaking in their boots. And that my friends is a very good thing.

Rush is right. Rush is so right, that he's not allowed to be wrong, even if he's not. Apparently that is the way he's being treated. He made a statement on a sports talk show on ESPN that was essentially an accusation against many in the sports media that they were being racist, and he's the one that resigned because his co-analysts on the program were getting heat from some sports media types. Probably the same ones that were actually acting in a racist fashion themselves. Well there's justice for you.
Now at the same time there's also some accusation apparently from a former employee that he's been buying/using drugs illegaly. I've not heard that he was acutally charged by a law enforcement agency so I'm going to withhold judgement on this one. It's ammazing though that so many people automaticly assume he's guilty. It appears that they just can't wait to see him topple. Some of the people I've heard gleefully hoping the accusations are true, are ones I've heard admit to drug use themselves in their past. I'll admit his non-denial denial seems to say there's something to these accusations, but hey what lawyer wouldn't give his client advice to do that when faced with something you aren't sure about. Given how busy Rush is preparing for his show(s) I'm sure it's possible he asked an employee to pick up things for him from time to time. I'm also sure that people misunderstand each other every day and maybe this is a misunderstanding on someones part and perhaps this person doing the accusing is just using her employer as a fall guy for her own misdeads. (Just posing an equally plausible explanation for what we are hearing.) Lets just wait to see if Rush is actually charged with anything before we hang him, OK.

Ok, Rush has admited to being addicted to a Prescribed pain medication(s). He still hasn't been charged with any crime. Given the known addicive qualities of the medications being reported, I'm sure most people could easily become addicted to them. I guess the question remains, did he resort to criminal means to obtain more of the drugs after his prescription ran out? Or was a doctor perhaps remiss in maintaining control of his prescribing a known highly addictive drug? I'm sure more information will be forthcoming. I certainly hope that Rush did not resort to criminal activity to get the drugs. He would definetly disappoint alot of people if he did. Me among them.

Regarding the removal of a monument containing the 10 Commandments from the Alabama Supreme Court building.
Excuse me. I could be wrong here, but doesn't the Constitution state in part. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;" It seems to me that we hear an awfull lot regarding the first part of that portion of the 1st amendment. But we hear very little regarding the second portion. I guess just because it specifies that the restriction is upon Congress, the courts feel free to restrict religious exercise whenever and where ever they wish. Recognition of the basis of our laws is not an establishment of religion. Anyone that has read any base amount of our founding documents and the writings of those that helped write it would know that there is a clear correlation between the 10 commandments, the bible, and our countries founding documents. The whole point of that portion of the constitution is that they didn't want government to establish A (Singular) Government sponsored/promoted religion like the King of England had done to them. Nor did they want government to restrict people in freely exercising the religion of their choice. While we have done very well on the first point we have been doing increasingly poorly on the later.
I have my suspicions that the more conservative members of the US Supreme Court intentionally decided against hearing the case specifically to prevent the decision that given recent bad rulings from them collectively would surely be as bad/worse as the rulings from the lower courts have been.

Well now we have a Supreme court that has elected to show us what bafoons we are and set the stage for legalised racism once again. Totally ignoring the 14th Amendment to our Constitution. "Section. 1. ALL persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the EQUAL protection of the laws." This means that no one should be given preferential treatment by the US or State Governments. For by giving one person preferential treatment I.E. based on race you are therefore descriminating against all others.
Another of their fine recent blunders is to make sodomy in almost all of it's forms legal. They did stop short of making it legal when it involved children. But when Senator Rick Santorum warned against the effects of this then potential decision he was blasted as a hate monger for saying it would make several forms of sodomy legal if they struck down the Texas law against sodomy.
Already on the chopping block for the last several years has been the idea that marriage can only be between a man and a woman. Now the homosexual activists want to pretend that they can be married as well. If you believe as I do that it is in jepoardy of becoming corrupted, please sign the petition to support an amendment to our constitution to make sure it stays a sacred union between a man and a woman.
Sure our country has live through harder times, and put up with stupider ideas being tried. But why do we have to sit back and allow the stupidity to continue any longer than it has already?

Now that we've finally taken decisive action in Iraq it's time to start looking at the next area of the world which harbors ill will tword us. after all we are on a mission to rid the world of terrorists. The obvious choice would be to support the fall of the current terrorist supporting government of Iran. After the problems we had trying to convince people that we needed to get rid of Sadam an easier target might be the best choice. Since there are already civilian uprisings in Iran it shouldn't be too difficult. But never underestimate the peacenik mentality, nothing that should be easy will ever be with them around stirring the pot against it.

The whole notion that the constitution allows for some people opposed to religion, to impose their will and demand that the rest of us not even speak of religion in their presence is absurd. If that were the case then the rest of us would have an equally absured power to impose our will on anyone who disagrees with our point of view on any matter. The constitution clearly states that the government has no right/ability to make law to prevent anyone from exercising their freedom of speach and or religion. Therefore no court has the ability to create that precedant either. The recent judgment of the 9th circuit will be overturned in one way or another. Either they will do it themselves, or the supreme court will. If either of them fail to do the right thing the people of the US will do it for them. The justices that made this judgement need to make a little trip over to some less than free country and try and impose their will there.

For those of you scared by Our Esteemed President removing US from the ABM treaty with a nonexistent government, Don't be. It will not spark a new Cold War Military build up. The Treaty didn't end the previous Cold War. But removing ourselves from it could very well end the current one. Just in case you can't figure it our for yourself we have enemies that want to destroy us now. They are currently seeking weapons technology that they hope to use to remove us from the face of this world. The sooner we develop an Anti Ballistic Missile system that we can deploy wherever we and our allies need it. The sooner they will discover that their efforts are wasted and move on to something else. Like maybe a better form of government, much like the Former member states of Former Soviet Union is engaged in now. Since they gave up their Cold War when they discovered that our form of government can out pace them in the development of bigger/bader forms of destructive capabilities that they didn't want to experience.

Why can't we just treat these books and the movie(s) as the harmless entertainment they are? There are so many truly evil things in this world we need to deal with. We don't need to waste our time trying to prove there is some evil intent in something there clearly is not. I have read the books. My son, who has been struggling with reading, has taken a liking to them as well, just like so many others have. He's more inclined to fantasize about himself being a Pro football player than a wizard, warlock or any other magical creature. So get off the bash the books bandwagon and on to something more useful.

Oh, to have the profound words no one else can come up with to express our outrage at the attacks that happened yesterday. I have expressed dismay in the past over the problems with several people�s attitudes that we have no more enemies, and therefore no need for as large a military as we need. It is quite apparent today that that attitude is quite false. Much too late many are forced into the realization that they were wrong. And we do need a strong military. And effective intelligence operations, able to operate world wide to discover plans for operations such as this so that we can prevent them, rather than mourn their occurrence. We have been warned through several attacks on our people, and property in several locations throughout the world. As well as the stated threats of those now thought to be responsible for what they said they wish to do to us. But we ignored the signs for too long. It's not too late to try to prevent further attacks. Unshackle our American ingenuity and let�s protect ourselves through superior firepower. Once again we must make anyone that seeks to do us harm, pay the price for messing with the best, freest, most diverse, strongest Country in the world.

Ask me what I believe about GOD, A higher power, or religeon in general, and I'll tell you i'm very conflicted about it all. But, what I don't understand is how people who claim to be seriously religeous can possibly be Liberals/Democrats. How is it possible to believe in an Almighty GOD, and supporting the immoral actions of many Democrats, abortion, A thieving Government, homosexual rights, and so many other things that clearly go agaainst GOD's will?

Why does our President have to go around campaigning to convince us that our government should stop taking so much of our money? Shouldn't it be us, telling him that? I think most of us have gotten fat and lazy to the point we don't even have the time to spend all of our own money and so we expect the government to do it for us. Should any of you ever have that problem please contact me and I would be very happy to spend your money for you, on whatever you need it spent on. And I guarantee you that I won't charge you as much as the government would to do it for you. I could only charge you 50% and in most cases that would be better than what the government wastes to get the same job done. I am looking for a better job anyway so if this can be it, I'm sure you will be satisfied. All you need to do is tell the government to stop taking it so that you can give it to me to spend for you. Well, Now I am thoroughly disgusted. We officially live in fear of little white fluffy things commonly referred to as snow. Not the actual stuff though but the anticipation of it. Today our local schools closed due to snow. When there is literally less than 1' on the ground. The Weather reports are calling for significant amounts, but that is showing no signs of arriving any time soon, and no sign of arriving prior to the end of the school day. Thus rendering the decision to close the schools ahead of time absolutely stupid. What would happen if our other Government services decided to close due to the anticipation of some no where near catastrophic event? They are literally acting as if we cannot deal with the stuff so we should avoid dealing with it altogether. I did call the superintendent of schools who while he cited the anticipation of a lot of snow couldn't defend closing the school ahead of time. All the time being rude to me and accusing me of being rude to him because I was trying to participate in a two way discussion. Even though when I wasn't saying anything he had nothing to say. If I had totally shut up, the silence would have been deafening. I don't think the schools should close even if the actual snow arrives. We can deal with it. This kind of thing happens, and we shouldn't shut down because of it. We should get out there and live life becuase of it.

It is my contention that Clinton has been behind this push for Court intervention in the recount of the Florida votes almost from the begining. After all Algore did call and conceeded the election to Bush and then later called to recant that concession an hour later. I believe that when Clinton heared that he had conceeded he called Algore and demanded that he call Bush back to recant. Also, I find further evidence of this in the fact that the Whitehouse won't release transition money to President Elect Bush.

After so many recounts of the vote in Florida I've lost count of how many there were. Never once did Bush lose. Yet the democrats in their vain attempt to win kept manufacturing vote after vote. If we let this continue surely they would be able to manufacture enough for Algore to finally win. Bush has been certified as the winner, yet the fight continues. Gore(Clinton) and his minnions continue to protest as though they had actually won, and the vote was somehow stolen from them in the same way that they attempted to steal it from Bush. It never ceases to amaze me how people will fall for the accusations of wrongdoing from the very people doing the wrongdoing themselves. Throughout ths election/campaign Algore has accused Bush of supporting/proposing bad policies that the Clinton/Algore administration has actually implemented. They accuse Bush of cutting social security when Algore cast the tiebreaking vote to raise taxes on Social Security income. And Clinton signed that legislation into law. But somehow that's totally ignored or worse than finding some way to fix the system. So that people of my age can be assured that not all of our hard earned money goes to waste in that toilet we call Social Security. I personally think that with IRA's, 401k's, 403b's and other forms or retirement savings we should just abolish Social Security. I know that for a freebie starved public that would never fly politicaly but Bush should at least get credit for trying to fix it rather than being bashed as though he's tring to do the same thing Algore did by cutting into current recipients benefits. And now in the post election wrangling it's Algore (who has never won, except in the eyes of the media) accusing Bush (who has never lost any count of the votes in the election) of trying to steal the election. Algore = total hypocrite.

Well now, here we are on the day after a real squeaker for George W. Bush. If the numbers hold true in the recount in Florida he will have done what has been said could never be done. He has proposed major reforms to the Social Security system and lived to tell about it (politically speaking).� I for one am very glad that the lies told about his proposals didn't cost him the election. I'm glad that he now has the mandate needed and the necessary votes in the House and Senate to support his reforms. Even though they're so slim that the dems will pull every dirty trick they can think of to obstruct the Republicans. Remember what is happening to our economy right now so you don't feel�the need to blame a failing economy on GWB in the future. I personally have been feeling a failing economy for over a year now. My personal income has been slipping, my taxes continue to grow beyond my ability to afford them.
I am glad that we won't have to destroy our country to get done what needs to be done. �(See below) �My own personal views on why Bush didn't win by a greater margin was that there were some people that just wouldn't vote for him because of his obvious association with his Father. and their dislike of some of the things he did. also the late breaking news of his DUI 24 years ago, while it should have been irrelevant. It actually mattered�to some people.
On the illegal side, voter fraud seems to have been rampant. Polls staying open later than law allows in areas heavily populated by democrats. Extra ballots given to likely Gore supporters, people registering to vote at the polls in multiple locations, and outright buying of votes by democrat loyalists. I was speaking to a very misinformed liberal today and discovered that she had no clue that buying votes was illegal. And when informed of it she still thought that it should be perfectly legal.

It is my sincere desire that George W. Bush be elected (and I do believe he will be) president of these
wonderful, if a bit trampled upon, United States of America.
However should the truly terrible happen, and we get a lying, corrupt, flaming liberal (Algore) for
the third consecutive term in a row. I propose that everyone, no matter how
Conservative, Libertarian, or Constitutional, start to act as liberal as humanly
possible. So as to hasten the total demise of Liberalism in the pathetic
brains of those that truly are Liberals. We will need to destroy ourselves in order
to save ourselves, before someone else does it for us(China, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, ). �If we can get
all this touchy feeley *^%#$^& over and done with, and on to rebuilding our nation
into into the lands of Freedom that our founding fathers envisioned. Maybe we will still have a nation capable of being
rebuilt.

Why do we think we need government to provide our healthcare/prescription
drugs for�us? �I hear conservatives on this stupid bandwagon that
we should provide prescription drugs for Seniors. If none of these wonderful
inventions were ever invented, would we still feel as though we had some
right to them? Do we have any rights to anything yet to be invented? why
do we feel we now have�rights where none existed before? The answer
is that we don't. We do however have the right to buy for ourselves that
which is legal and we can afford to buy for ourselves. We may need to make
prescription drugs health care and everything else more affordable by getting
government out of the way. But that is all we should be doing.� Not
paying for things for people.

Elian Gonzalez is now back in Cuba. He's not even with his father, he's in
a re-education compound. Do you feel good about your what opinion was on
what should have happened to him? I'm confident I was right. And I'm very
saddened that he was allowed to be kidnaped by the Cuban government. I hope
you've learned a lesson about how things are in this world, and that it's
up to you too, to stand for what is right. Not just what feels right at the
time.

It has been reported that Elian Gonzalez is now telling his dad and others
around him that he want's to go back to Cuba. �Well no kidding, considering
what he was just put through here. �He's probably been traumatized into
thinking this is the way life is in the US. �At least in Cuba if you
say you love communism, and don't speak out about how horrible life is under
the dictatorial rule of Castro. They pretty much leave you alone to wallow
in your poverty stricken, slavery induced,�squalor. �He's probably
never experienced the horrors of Castro first hand but he's seen�the
very underbelly of America first hand and very up close and personal.
�Those that wish to send him back to Cuba have no real clue what the
consequences to themselves may be if this type of action is allowed to go
on without consequences to the�perpetrators (Bill Clinton, Janet Reno,
The INS). �Many people seem to think that since these people are of
Cuban heritage that they are not�Americans. �The civil rights
of�American citizens were violated by our government. �How long
will it be before�it happens to you?

Today is a very sad day to be an American. We no longer have a government
that protects our freedom. I have served in our United States Army to preserve
the freedoms we enjoy here in the US. I never thought it would come to a
time when instead of preserving freedom our government would work to oppress
us. It has now happened. Agents of the Federal government kidnaped Elian
Gonzalez from the home where he was living in freedom, to work toward returning
him to Cuba, where he will be brainwashed and enslaved to the whims of Fidel
Castro. I'M MAD!!! This fight has never been about Fathers rights. It has
always been about preserving freedom for Elian and anyone else that comes
here from oppression. They were seeking a proper settlement of their dispute
in a very legal way by using the court system. The courts had not terminated
their rights to care for and have custody of the boy. The Father, if he had
the freedom to do so, Could have visited the boy where he was. On numerous

The plain simple truth is that he didn't/doesn't have that freedom. He lives

We should not be enabling Castro in the oppression of his people. Why don't

We see time after time the corruption of these two, and others around them,
exposed. And liberals continue to follow them blindly. They cooperate in
the commission of criminal acts that others go to jail for. And yet they

say they are sorry. And then they call for new laws.�New laws, to do
what? They've already committed crimes! What new laws do they want? Ones

If you read my earlier posts you can see that I was a bit worried about the
whole thing. But now we have to worry about combating and defeating an even
worse candidate, and maybe worse liar. I hope George W. Bush can overcome
his main obstacles. The Media, Liberal lies, and those that still resent
his father for his "read my lips, NO NEW TAXES" blunder. I hope he chooses
his VP well, and doesn't alienate those already behind him. �Just so

So much for breathing easier. How are the Democrats choosing their candidate?
Are they going to hash it out at their convention? They seem to have shut
down their primary altogether. Did someone declare Gore the winner by default
and now they get to send all their members into the polls to vote for the
worst possible Republican candidate, so they will have no opposition in November.
I'm really getting worried that the Republican party is going to allow Democrats
to really screw up their party. It's obvious that McCain only cares about
winning the nomination and has no idea what he's going to do after that.
There is no way he will win the general election because 50% of the people
voting for him are democrats that aren't going to vote for him, they will
be voting for their favorite Democrat.

Well I am breathing a little bit easier today after George W. Bush has won
fairly convincingly in South Carolina. Especially considering the amount
of liberal democrats that are openly calling for dems to vote for and voting
for McCain. I would like for Allan Keys to see the light and now back out
and endorse Bush. He's clearly taking votes from GWB. I'm still rather confused
how conservatives like Gary Bauer could possibly consider endorsing McCain?

The Knight in shinning armor for Elian Gonzalez comes in the form of an honorable
Representative from the state of Indiana.
�Rep.
Dan Burton is chairman of the House Government Reform Committee which issued
a subpoena forcing Elian to appear before his committee in Feb. Creating
the situation that will not allow Elian to be deported to Cuba until after
the courts in Florida have made their decision on his fate. Trumping the
idiotic ruling by the INS which would have forced Elian to be sent back prior
to the Florida court's ruling. While it isn't a guarantee that Elian will
never be deported, it at least gives him his day in court. I'm willing to
bet the media will be blasting him for this action. I, for one, am congratulating
him.
I have heard the idiotic argument that if the roles were reversed and there
was a citizen of our country in Cuba we would be demanding his return. While
the statement is correct, it ignores one very large and very fatal fact.
The United States of America is not a Communist Dictatorship with guards
walking around threatening to kill us if we try to leave, or make adverse
statements against our government. We aren't trying to restrict Elian's freedom
We are trying to ensure it. In fact most of the arguments I've heard for
sending him back fail miserably to take�this into account. I�happen
to have a son�almost the same age. While I love�him dearly I would

adamantly denounced all this Y2K hysteria that has been pervading our
world. �I would like to amend my prior statement. Not that I think
I was wrong. �But it appears that we will be having some pretty serious
difficulty on or about the beginning of next year. It however has nothing
to do with any kind of problem with computers malfunctioning. There have
been several recent reports of law enforcement agencies catching people planing
and�making terrorist threats around the world and in the US. Presumably
they will be timing their actions to coincide with the non problem of Y2K
computer malfunctions.

Pokemon yet, they probably will. As a matter of principle I avoid supporting

they inject themselves in our lives by taking over providing medical services
for some of us. Then when they determine that some legitimate companies are

A�couple of weeks ago the people of East Timor voted to be free from
Indonesian rule. �Since then they have become targets of if not the
Indonesian Army, anti-independence militiamen supported by Indonesia. We
can somehow justify running off to Kosovo to stop the fighting where two
rival but relatively equal strength groups that have been fighting to rule
the others. But now when some people try to peacefully vote for their freedom
we can't do anything about it.
I personally would support sending some sort of monetary $upport or weapons
to the people seeking to be free from the rule of Indonesia. We waste plenty
of money on worthless �and corrupt countries�like Russia surely
we could spend the money better on helping people that are willing to fight
for their freedom. I would not however support sending troops to force them
to stop fighting for their freedom. I don't even think we should send any
troops in any capacity. �At the very least we should send them our verbal
support. And condemn the Indonesians for their brutality.

Liberals/democrats can't let a tax cut during a time when�there is no
deficit prove that tax cuts do not cause deficits, overspending does. And
that tax cuts when we are being�overtaxed will result in more revenue

During a conversation with my brother(Chris), He pointed out that children

I heard a sound bite of Senator Smith's resignation speech on Rush today.
I disagree with his assertion that Republicans are only interested in winning.
Their problem is that once they do win they are too afraid to legislate the
way they said they would in order to get elected. Whether it's due to their
fears of polls, Democrats attacks or not getting reelected I don't know,
probably all of them.
Republicans need to learn that in order for people to support them they have
to tell people why they should, what they stand for, and how they have
implemented what they said they were going to do, if they are incumbents.
We all know that politics is full of compromises. But�they have�to
implement what they say�they are for, as much as possible before
compromising on anything.

did nothing about it.

Yet again we have another senseless attack on our kids, by kids. �This
time�near Denver, CO. With occurrences like this we inevitably look
for somebody to blame. While we are all responsible for our actions. We must
all look in a mirror and ask what is my role in this problem. By that I mean
what are we doing in our communities and families to prevent our kids from
doing the same thing, or as things go, worse. We have become very permissive
of bad things in our society. Abortion, Divorce, excess taxation which causes
the need for both parents to work, Institutionalized day care and more. And
no longer permit good things such as GOD in our schools/lives, An at home
parent, teachers having the ability to punish bad behavior. When we don't
discipline our children they develop no self discipline. I refuse to not
discipline my child in a manner that is fit and propper. If he is misbehaving
and a scolding gets the job done, then that is what he gets. However if his
actions call for much sterner punishment, then he will get it. Including
a swat or more on his behind, or hand, or cheek. Yes, I have done it in public
when necessary and endured the resulting visits from child welfare people
and the police. Because of the lack of tolerance we have as a society for
disciplining anyone anymore. But I guarantee you that if you happen to meet
my child on the street he will not be rude to you, he will say please, and
thank you, and he won't be the bully beating up on your child in school.
However he will defend himself against your bully. As I work here on my computer
he crawls up on my lap knowing that he is welcome to do so because I love
him. And he knows it even when I have to discipline him. I am not the perfect
parent, none of us are, but we should all strive to better ourselves and
our children. And for those of you that are wondering, they found NO evidence
of abuse of any type.
So what are you doing to insure that your child is not going to be one of
those kids that grow up to hurt or kill someone. My contention is that we
all are responsible by allowing misbehavior to go unpunished we allow worse
behavior to become normal. And no making a child go sit in a corner or not
allow video games for a half an hour, or a day, or even a week is not punishment.
I mean punishment, as in real consequences for real (bad) actions. If a kid
is laughing at you while he/she is being punished you're not doing it right,
they are not getting the message that what they did was wrong and they better
not do it again. All they are thinking is, I better be more careful so I
don't get caught next time.
And no, Just taking/keeping guns away from bad people is not going to stop
bad people from doing bad things. As this incident shows they had explosives
and other weapons that can do just as much damage as guns can. Just look
at what we are doing in Yugoslavia/Kosovo. We haven't fired one gun off yet.

Al(duh)Gore visited our liberal mecca in WI., Madison. �He was complaining
about how women are being oppressed in science fields and the same day NASA
announces that they are planning an all female space crew in the next year
or so. �Doesn't sound to�me like they are being discriminated against.
Liberals and the NOW gang, (NAG's National Association of Gals�as Rush
Likes to call them) would like us to totally ignore the reality of biology
which naturally keeps women out of the work force. Only in isolated cases
are women oppressed in any way other than by their own desires to remain
out of the work force due to child bearing and rearing, and their own personal
desire to not work.

our government to do anything about it. �They have been fighting in
that region for many years, they hate each other. �The only way we are
going to bring peace to the area is to take over. That would be a very difficult,

It occurred to me this evening, after attending a PTA meeting that we don't
pay enough attention to our school board elections. �We received a
presentation from a school board candidate that basically said that the spending
caps put in place to restrict the over spending of our school districts have
become the minimum for increases rather�than the maximum. To me it is
offensive to say that just because it's a government job there should be
an increase in your compensation every year. I have no problem with merit
increases, �but a pay increase just because you've managed to work for
the same employer for another year doesn't make sense to me. �And all
of the candidates running for my local school board seem to be saying we
can't educate your children for the same amount or less.�We can't cut
costs by becoming better at it. �We can't do it the way private industry
does it. �This is government. It must get bigger every year therefore
cost more every year. �I reject that entirely and I think it proves
the need for some form of �private/public school choice to be implemented
so there is real competition to do actual cutting of costs.

There is no longer any political backing for tax cuts. Americans have gone
apathetic due to the media hyped notion that there is no crisis in our government

On the wrong side are most of the democrats and the independent members of
the House of Representatives. Unfortunately�the following wimps from
the republican party �also didn't vote to impeach. And in my opinion
should resign.

It's coming down to crunch time for the Criminal in chief. Will he
be�impeached or not? �Any congressman that does not vote too Impeach
should resign. �If you�have a wimp for a congressman give him/her
a backbone. Any one that wishes to do so�may use this site as a place
to call for the Resignation of their wimpy congressman if they don't vote
to impeach.

Polls are a self perpetuating phenomenon. �The media �repeatedly
says that there is this movement on a particular subject based on some stupid
poll. �The good sheeple that watch and listen without thinking believe
them and�base their opinion on them.� Then they take�more
polls and the results always show that they were right the first time Whether
or not that would be�the actual result if the people were properly informed.

Y2K, YEAR 2000 �
The so called problem we are(n't) going to have �in the year 2000
or sooner. If we are to believe some of the doom and gloomers in the world,
we will be returning to the stone age 01/01/2000. All because some computers
some people use are so old that the date can't be changed. If the date can't
be changed then there is no way the y2k problem could possibly effect it.
If you are viewing this, you personally will not have a problem with your
computer and I contend that no one of consequence will either. Any for profit
business is not going to let their computer interfere with their ability
to make money. �The only possible people that will experience any difficulty
at all will be people that don't use modern equipment such as our government.
�And who really cares if our government has a little more trouble
interfering with our lives because they are busy fixing a non-problem. Since
there is the possibility that �government computers will be operating
thinking that it is 1900 do you suppose we will only have to pay the then
nonexistent �income taxes.
�If after reading this you still think there might be a problem
somewhere, prove it. I have heard nothing that actually proves that there
will be any problem at all. If you can prove to me that there will be any
problem we can't solve in a few minutes, feel free to do so. Anyone that
wishes to disagree with me on this issue is free to put their money where
their mouth is. I will gladly accept the gift of transportation to anywhere
you feel would be the most dangerous destination as a result of the "Y2K

Consider the consequences of not following through on an impeachment of the
president. �None of the allegations as presented by Ken Starr have been
disputed. �Therefore we have a known criminal running the country.
A�condition which is not supposed to be allowed by law. No one having
been convicted of these types of crimes is allowed to run for public office.
So why should we allow someone that has been known to engage in them continue
to be president. �To do so will create the precedent that criminals
be allowed to run and serve as officials in our government.�

I am getting tired of politics, or am I. When I first became seriously interested
in the political health of our country in 92. I was not able to vote. The
frustration I experienced made me realize what a privilege and duty voting
really is. Now that I can vote I am getting frustrated by the apparent apathetic
treatment our leaders in govt. receive. �We need to realize that there
are constitutional duties that or government has to follow. To cease those
actions and allow the various checks and balances to go unused will result
in our govt. to �run roughshod over our rights.
It amazes me sometimes how some people can oppose something that would be
in the countries best interest. �Just because to do so would also benefit
some group of people that they personally dislike.

Good luck in your future as a private citizen. Now if Republicans can really
select new leadership without cannibalizing themselves. If they all agree
on who their leaders are going to be before they elect a Dem by default.
They should be reinvigorated to actually make the best of what they have
left of a majority. Because now more than ever they all need to be on the
same page in order to get anything done. They need to do what they did with
welfare reform. Stick to their guns with real common sense proposals. And
keep hammering on them until the president signs them into law. And then
for 2000 they need to create a new Contract with America and have a real
candidate for President. Instead of just who they think deserves the nomination
by having moved up the internal chain.

More ideas about the latest election. Republicans did win a majority of the elections. However since they won less than they did in the 96 and 94 elections it appears as though they have lost. �If the Republican leadership changes and the new ones in charge have learned that they need to do what they said they were going to�do (I.e. cut taxes, privatize Social Security, school choice)then this election was a very good lesson for them. Many republicans in my area actually campaigned on the tax cut issue. �But they may have lost because they had nothing to prove that their party was going to do any thing to get the job done. �It amazes me sometimes how some people can oppose something that would be in the countries best interest. �Just because to do so would benefit some group of people that they personally dislike. |

election on NOV. 3 1998. American's seem to be telling our govt. that we
are comfortable with immorality in our leaders. Too many people are voting
based on their feelings rather than what the candidates actually do in office.
In my state Russ Feingold who stands for abortion on demand in any case
(including leaving it "between a woman and her doctor" on weather or not
to terminate the life of a child that was born alive during a partial birth
abortion). �Was able convince voters that he opposes partial birth
abortion(abortion in any form performed by someone is MURDER). Who cast a
deciding vote to raise our taxes, was able to convince voters that he is
for tax cuts. Who cast votes for massive govt. waste, was able to convince
voters that he is against govt. waste. Many people don't understand that
most media sources are for liberal candidates and skew their commentary in
order to promote that philosophy. Many media sources have been saying for
a long time that the misdeeds of our president are no big deal. So when people
that aren't paying very close attention to what is actually happening hear
that, they start to agree. Maybe because they are tired of hearing about
it or did something like it themselves. But we shouldn't be accepting bad
behavior in our elected officials. It always amazes me at the
hostility from the left when they are asked to be accountable for their actions.
