Al Davis's E-book - Getting To Ground Zero

I was at Ground Zero today, 02/22/02.

It is still very much a huge construction site.

The air is not good, my mouth and throat became dry, it's still generating dust down there.

It is over 5 months and they are still hauling out truckload after truck load of debris.

How long do you think the City of New York
can afford to pay all the overtime and expense
and not have the revenue
that would be generated
by all the office workers who are not there?

With just a little imagination, they could turn the tourism into economic jumper cables to help (to use an overworked, however nice sounding term "jump start the city's economy").

It is so obvious that I cannot believe that it is not under serious consideration. To me it was obvious from the start.

Don't put up new buildings,
make it a wonderful memorial park
and make money off the tourism.
( -At Mount St. Helens'
tourism is now the leading business.- )

Guess what, if they do rebuild, and the project is complete in 5 to 6 years, will people be working in offices anyway.

Tons of people are at Ground Zero to see things.
With all the financial problems the city is facing you would think they would be smart enough to at least ask those wanting to go on the observation platform for a suggested donation.

But no its free.

You just have to get past the police woman from hell, who won't let you by without the proper ticket, no exceptions and she don't care if you are from Germany and today is your last day, ok?

So don't even try that.
