Mr. John Jagt, Included are letters I am sending to hostels in the city where the conditions of the facilities and the treatment of the residents has been sub-standard. I think it imperative for an immediate inquiry to be made into these drastically improper treatments. Requests have been made for confidential letters including dates and I will be writing you with more detailed information in the near future. The greatest concern of mine is the common occurrence of federal offences and the disruption of the justice system by these hostel employees who refuse to except the law or respect the rights of others. If a person is in need of food or shelter they are made to feel in debt and their rights and freedoms must be traded in exchange for the chance to eat and be clean or even to sleep. These luxuries are sometimes not granted even to the most honest and law abiding of citizens due to the simple fact that they question criminal activity of hostel employees if there is any reason at all. Please immediately consider the way in which the system has impeded the progress of these individuals who have come upon these disreputable shelters in times of need and how they have been disadvantaged. The most important and first move to make should be a high priority memo to all staff explaining the importace of human rights and freedoms as well as personal rights and freedoms for these are presently in dispute at supposed shelters in the Toronto area. Residents are told incorrectly what the law is and that they must suffer particulars that they should not. Please detail federal offences such as interference in police matters and show how force or pressure placed on a person when signing a document is illegal and how if people are denied the right to read documents intirely and fill them out themselves or are not permitted the time to do so properly these are federal offences. Posters should be situated everywhere explaining what people's rights and freedoms are because they are repeatedly violated and the staff insist if there isn=t a mark on them then the law has not been broken. Also residents right to privacy is important as hostel staff invade privacy harming more people than the residents alone and other offences are commit. Thank you for understanding and I will send you further details in the future so that you can respond accordingly. In the mean time please respond on letterhead to the return address explaining the procedure in dealing with these maters, the information you require, and the action you have taken. With Urgence x |
