| Shane's article con'd: During this investigation time I received a call from a man who was reluctant to identify himself-except that he was an Albion, NY native. He had stated he and his girlfriend were not far from the canal area on the night of July 4, sighted two lights in the sky, which were flying very low to the ground, in very erratic patterns, picking up speed to go straight up, then coming down at a slower speed. All he could observe was the lights were very bright white, with red lights on bottom. He estimated them to be from the distance he was-size of a dime at arms length. The lights he observed did not behave like any conventional aircraft he, nor his girlfriend had ever observed. I later ascertained the whole time of his sighting of these objects was about half an hour. He stated he and his girlfriend went in the direction of the lights, which disappeared around the time of his arrival in area where he estimated he saw they first flying. This young man was a good witness, he and his girlfriend had not been drinking, in fact coming home from a movie that ended shortly before midnight. I later found out he was the son of a local police chief. Unfortunately, later, due to that fact likely, he would not agree to his girlfriend or he to anymore official questioning, nor agree to his report being officially taken by any UFO investigator. But, this is far from the end dear readerit only gets better.! Read on. For a town of only 7500, Medina seemed to be most notable-then and now, as the vicinity the greatest number of crop circles ever reported, and investigated.! Unknown to me at the time of the one crop circle event in Roberts field, another circle happened-also on property owned by Roberts., exactly 1.1 mile in almost a direct north-south line from the one first found by him on Salt Works Rd. But, this time, it was not discovered by Roberts, this crop circle was spotted by none other than the Orleans County Sheriffs Department., in a routine aerial overflight looking for marijuana growing in mature corn fields. The spotters were well aware of the crop circles that had been reported on Roberts Farm and Knowlesville-that had generated such media publicity and attention. This sighting however, was kept under wraps-as they say. For two reasons; out of respect for the Roberts family, who quickly tired of the public/media curiosity and trampling on their land to see the circle, and this time to obtain a hopefully clean investigation, uncontaminated from a professional investigation team-this is where our own MUFON was notified and stepped in! Mufon investigators, Neil Palumbo and Tom Nesser, arrived at the site on Oct. 11, 1191. They had been contacted by Ken Boring-who with myself, and Hardes, who were in the investigation of the original crop circle site of July 23rd. I was unavailable in this particular investigation by MUFON, a fact I regret. This crop circle was in an exact straightline mile from my home in town. The results obtained from this site were equally as interesting as the first crop circle site on Roberts Farm. This crop circle, which was a bit smaller in comparison to first crop circle on Roberts Farm, measuring just over 18 ft.-was only visible from the air. Reason it was not spotted along with at the time of the first circle. Location was interesting. Not only was it a mile from the original, it was located 500 ft. behind the then Niagara Mohawk Power Station, and 200 ft., east-west from the Conrail RR track. No other witnesses were found or came forward on this sighting. Circle was located in a then mature filed of 6 ft. of tall feed corn. Circle stalks were in a bent counter-clockwise overlapping swirl pattern. The corn stalks exhibited many traits of associated with crop circle phenonmena. Stalks inside circle were bent over, not broken, with a clean cut-off between bent over stalks and unaffected erect ones. Some discoloration was noted. The area-even then, appeared to b undisturbed by people, no footprints, or telltale signs of any human activity was visible, anywhere. No ground impressions was found, however; interesting to note-the area in the middle of the circle itself appeared cleared to the bare ground. No unusual Geiger readings were noted either. In summary, three sample stalk sets, with seedlings were taken from the circle site-as well as other areas nearby, and sent to W.C. Levengoods biophysical lab in Michigan, and the final results which came back in Feb. of 1992 were highly interesting and noteworthy. Im also including the sample sets obtained from the first crop circle site obtained in July 1991 on Roberts Farm. |
