Shane's article cont'd:

When I came upon the scene, I was joined by Ken Boring, a local Medina native, who was a long time UFO enthusiast-who had a UFO library of books any diehard UFOlogist would find impressiveas was his knowledge in general of the whole subject. With Ken came another gentleman, Daryl Hardes, then founder of UFO-Ultimate Frontier Organization-15 year UFO researcher, both who helped me officially stake off the circle area-and immediately we all began to take note of the surrounding area.

Human influence on the field seemed to be ruled out. In questioning Lee and Todd Roberts, both explained the day of the sighting, there were no tracks leading to or from the circle. They felt the circle had not been caused by any rain/wind effect-as they said normally weather-like that causes the wheat to lean over in some type of predictable pattern-which theyd seen many times happen. In eyeing the area, it basically appeared that some heavy object was placed down and removed from the field area, creating a perfect roundness, measuring 20 ft. exactly.

Soil samples and radiation tests were done at the site. Packaged and sent to a noted expert in the field of this extensive and exhaustive type of soil/ wheat testing, a one Dr. Levengood, of Pinelandia Labs in Michigan has been a plant biophysicist for over 50 years, and has done extensive analysis on over 300 crop circle formations.

What was also looked for-if any plant life seemed to be at all evidently in the circle, noting if this were a genuine crop circle, the soil generally becomes sterile, crystallizes like sand, and nothing grows in area-except for moss-which doesnt need soil to grow. Many photos were taken-from all perspectives also.

Over the next week-after this initial investigation, the whole area was visited by unbelievable thousands in fact, crowds of people. Camera crews from every local T.V. station came and did reports and interviews! Myself, Ken and Daryl did our best to work with the Roberts to make sure the circle area itself was not compromised. We also put our names in the paper to contact if anyone had observed other circles like this one-or seen anything unusual UFO-wise-around the time the circle had happened.

We hit a bingo in that regard!

What came was a call from four women, all who lived in Knowlesville, who had been walking the north side of the canal towpath, east of Knowlesville bridge, on July 4th, when they noticed 4 circles in the corners of the wheat field belonging to a local farmer. The field had been combined, but the farmer had noticed the 4 circular patterns also-but said he went ahead and combined them.

So, unfortunately, we had nothing but the witness testimony to go by of the 4 women and farmer-as when we got to the site itself-no evidence remained of the circles.

After talking to three of the 4 women, they agreed, with the farmer that the wheat was not flattened/crushed to the ground like the Roberts crop circle-it was wheat that they described as messed up-in a circular pattern, a few feet down to the ground. The appearance, they said, was As if something had attempted a partial touchdown.

We all felt extremely chagrined on this report-being combined down by the farmer with no call to anyone on what he found before he did it.  These were four circles that were around 20 ft. each in diameter, in good condition. No wind, weather damage at the time of the sighting noted by any of the witnesses.
