| Shane's contribution cont'd: Dr. Levengood�s report found unusual growth response in circle seedlings found inside circle-as compared to those found outside of circle. To try to put it in simple laymens terms: not the normal expectation there would be if the circle stalks were crushed by normal wind or rain related phenonmena. The growth rate would be greatly affected and reduced, as compared with stalks, seedlings outside circle., in weather related phenonmena. They were not affected. In fact, the radical growth rate samples obtained inside the circle, and, what is called cell pit enhancement-were significantly higher, than those obtained outside the circle! It was concluded that: Formation probably occurred 3 weeks prior to the discovery of circle on Oct. 7th. Which would make the formation of the circle around the approximate date of Sept. 12th. 1991. Almost exactly two months after the first circle formation found on Roberts Farm July 5th. Between MUFON�s investigation and Dr. Levengood�s extensive testing.., which can even detect human contact/ tampering of stalks; felt it was safe in concluding there was a HIGH probability that the circle sites were not hoaxes. Many years I sit here-still wondering about the �Year of the Medina/WNY Crop Circle� event. Certainly puts Medina in a special place in history in the area of Crop Circle phenonmena. I tried to unsuccessfully re-start another deeper investigation into this Crop Circle event-mainly trying to center more on the reports of the few eyewitnesses that were apart of the original sighting. Interestingly, due to perhaps the extreme initial publicity and the usual-at that time media handling of it-the few witnesses I did find-were unwillingly to talk further on the event-or go on record about it. The media and meteorologists, ultimately concluded it �Must�ve been a possible �Dust Devil� phenonmena�, which is in short- is a rapidly rising, rotating column of hot air. Though this was a self-derived theory it seems, and a weak one to be sure., as this phenonmena generally occurs in temperatures above 100-110 degrees-and it was admitted-that the temperatures never rose that high at the time of the Medina sightings, and this circular type of Dust Devil phenonmena has never been seen in this area of the country. Typically, this phenonmena occurs in dryer areas like Arizona, & other sections of the Midwest. It was also later admitted, the dust devil effect does not leave the perfect circular patterns that were seen in Medina�s crop circles. At least now-were the crop circles-and those that caused it-were to return, I as a member of Mufon, and, and proud MUFONISTA (and hopefully soon to be official investigator), will be prepared to welcome it.
