Louis Amis 

Louis was born about 1670 in France and died  in 1794 in Virgina. His wife is unknown.

Children of Louis are:

1. Thomas Amis Sr.  B: abt 1700  D: 1794       2. Ann Amis      3. Joseph Amis

Amis is spelled AMI in France and is said to be from the French "AMI" meaning friend and is pronounced "Ahhmee"

Louis came to America in 1699. His religion was Huguenot. He came on one of three ships, "Le Nasseau"  "Mary Ann" or "Peter Anthony." He was one of the founders of Manakin, Va. which was a huguenot colony.
