Sri Sundareswarar Temple, Neikuppai Village.
(3 Kilo Metres from Pandanallur - on the Sirkazhi Road)

Near Kumbakonam, Tanjavur District. Tamil Nadu, INDIA

This Shiva Temple was built up and consecrated several centuries ago on the banks of river Manniyaar, a tributory of Kaveri. In this temple, beautifully sculpted the Presiding Deity Lord Sri Sundareswarar and His Consort Godess Sri Soundara- nayaki, were adored by Religious Savants and Saints. On verification of many rare idols of this temple, it is found that the temple is nearly 900 years old.
Sri Parvathi Devi had the Avataar of a Cow and performed Pooja Sri Shiva with Ghee from this Temple Well called "Neikoobam". This Name became "Neikuppai", the name of this Village.

The Sun rays directly fall on the Siva Lingam naturally and perform Aarthi. This is one of the Temples where SUN GOD worships Sri Siva Linga for three days every year, viz. Tamil Month Aavani 19, 20 & 21. This temple has a rare Architectural design and unique idols and icons.

The bushy growth and heavy vegetation on the Roof Structures and Vimaanam, badly damaged the Beautiful Sculptures of the Temple. With the help of Agricultural Experts, the roots and bushes, which deeply penetrated into the Temple Structures, were removed and Renovated, retaining the Beauty of the Temple. A new Strong Room has been added to protect the Ancient / Rare Panchaloga Icons.

KUMBABHISHEKAM WAS PERFORMED ON the 2nd JULY 2006.
