Obviously, many people might wonder what precisely constitutes a "Thing" as a "Cult Classic." It is safe to say that it is generally what it sounds like: Somehting or someone which or who found it and or themselves in the Public Eye without actually captivating the "Popular Vote." Yet, despite their apparent lack of luster, "It/They" attracted a loyal Fan Base which refuses to let the icon in question die.
Examples abound: Ed Wood, Betty Page, Film Noir, "Monster Movies," and far much more! Without doubt, the most sucessful Cult Classic to not only endure the Test of Time but actually grow and evolve from its original Blue Print would have to be the late Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek. Trekkies and Trekkers from the 1960s to this dawn of the 21st Century have embraced the "subjective universe" of its creator, replete with successful series off-shoots and major motion pictures...all in spite of the fact that its infamous original program lasted far less than its "...five year mission..." On the Air!
Not every Cult Classic attains such stardom. Many truly Classic TV shows, Films, and Personalities are survived by a mere hand-full of enthusiasts. Still, their aesthetic value coupled with the FANatic love of the "Classic" in question's "Cult," they have earned both their place in Entertainment History as well as the hearts of zealots near and far, living and dead.
